I basically finally met one of Day's family members last night.
On the walk to what I'm assuming is his house, I noticed he felt like he needed something.
"What's wrong, buddy?" I ask him.
"It's just that... the girl. I shouldn't have kissed her-"
"But you did!"
"-I shouldn't be glad that I did it, but I am. Look, Dee, I've kissed plenty of beautiful girls before, but not like her. I'd wanted more, no, NEEDED more."
"I'm just surprised you pulled away. Kirby would've been able to get over his fear of love if you had the strengh to kiss her more."
Day chuckles. "You really think I could get together with THAT thing?"
I know he's talking about Ms. Iparis, but I talk like he meant about Kirby. "I'm sure you two will be just fine!" Either way, they're the same answer.
We reach a house with a three lined X, and for some reason I can smell Kirby from here. I ignore it for now. Day opens up a board and motions me to get under the porch with him. Whistiling is heard from above, which reminded me of the food Kawasaki cooked us back when me, Kirby, the sire, and Meta Knight had a sleepover. It was the best food I've ever tasted, and I wanted to share it with everyone I met.
Day whistles some slow tune until the guy cooking a soup notices and turns around. Then we both leave the porch and head around to the house's backdoor. This must be Day's brother or father. Which ever one of the two.
"What's the orange thing doing here?" he asks.
I gave him a kind of angry dissapointed face, but Day stops me and talks with his brother/father. "Doesn't matter, he's trustful. I've got almost sixteen hundred notes. Almost enough for the cure. How's Eden?"
The other guy shakes his head. "Not good," he says. "He's lost more weight. But he's still alert, and he recognizes us. I think he has a few more weeks."
I feel bad for this "Eden" guy. Being sick sucks, and is pretty much the worst thing at any time during your life.
Day continues. "I promise I'll..." he looks at me and grabs my hand. "...we'll have the money soon. All I need is one more lucky break, and I'll be there, and we'll have it for him."
"You're being careful, right?" the guy asks. "I don't want you putting yourself in unnecessary danger..."
I tune them out and notice something about them for a bit, like they're twins or something. Same hair, eyes, expression, everything. All it takes for Kirby to look like me is a costume and a bandana.
"...Don't be stupid," Day scowls. "If the soldies catch you, you'll all die. You know that. I'm faster this way. Seriously. Better than only one of us out there hunting for the money. You won't do Mom any good if you're dead."
I can tell the other guy wants to say more, but Day just turns away. I actually have a gift for his family, though, and give it to the guy.
"Here, a gift to get you through the hard times," I say. I give him a bottle of milk.
"Thanks. I'll use it wisely," he whispers to me.
"I've got to go," Day says, I'll see you soon."
We return to the alley. Looks like the others are knocked out cold, with Kirby showing his scar. I summon an extra bandana and put it on him as a blanket. The poor thing must've been freezing.
I have a weird dream that night. It was Kirby's first adventure, but instead I was the star. There were no enemies, though. Just grass. The "IN" door was blocked off by wood. I continue to the warp star, but instead of transporting me to the right place, it summons me to this place. I see a house, the same one I visited with Day. Kirby is in there, dead. Blood flowing on the floor as Ms. Iparis and Day stand there. Somethings wrong. Then Kirby gets up, cover in blood, and somehow obtains the Fire ability. He burns the house down.
Once I escape from THAT, I notice Kirby is coming straight at me. The place turned into a long road. I see a portal, with Dedede and Meta Knight yelling at me to go into it. I keep running and running, and Kirby is chasing me, now all read, with a sinister face and a pair of guns and knifes. I reach the portal with my eyes closed, but when I open them, it turns out to be Dark Matter, a force that once tried to rule over Dream Land. He attacks me as my vision turns red. I wake up scared.
Kirby is beside me, still looking as kind as ever. "Bandana, are you okay?"
I give him a worried look. "Yeah, I guess so... What's that siren sound?" Hopefully he's not calling policemen to kill me.
"I don't know," Day murmurs. He's laying down, but then he sits up and looks around. I look around too. Tess is also awake and it seems like Ms. Iparis has been awake for a long time. Kirby gives me a worried look when I notice this.
"Morning," Day tried to say to her.
"Your family had their door marked, didn't they?" Ms. Iparis responds.
I look at Kirby, shocked. "You and that girl followed me last night! Why?"
Kirby gives a sad poyo, like he didn't mean to. But I can't believe Kirby would break his promise.
The girl continues. "Is that what you're saving all that money for? A plague cure?"
Day seems confused and shocked at the same time. "Yes, why do you care?"
"You're too late." I show my anger in my face to Kirby as she says this. "Because today the plague patrol is coming for your family. They're taking them away." Kirby seems like he could cry, but tries bravely enough to show he didn't do it. I know he did it.
He broke our promise.
