Thank NOVA that Kirby is keeping his promise.
Look, I know the both of us have to get home, but if Day get's revealed, then that wouldn't be very nice. Like hey, I was gonna die in that bag due to lack of air! Kirby has got to be the bestest friend I ever met.
Currently, we're all walking around this place called the Alta sector (I've yet to learn everything about this place, alright?) and I notice the girl, who I assume is called Iparis, is trying to observe Day. I get set to take out my spear just in case she finds out right away.
We passed by a bakery. I could tell Kirby wanted some bread, but unfortunately, as Day said earlier, we don't have the money to buy food in general. There was something about the bread, though. The size of those things looked exactly like the ones from the Kirby Cafe. In fact, I think I saw some Waddle Dees and Sir Kibbles in there, selling some. I was starting to suspect this new universe me and Kirby were in.
I guess the walking basically got the best of us. With the sun beating down like Pyribbit's goons, Iparis felt kinda tired, based on her movements. Day stopped all of us just so he could find water for this girl.
"Dang," said Kirby, in his normal kirby language, "This heat is killing me more than an army of Gordos."
"Well, it might be killing HER more." I point at the girl.
She replies. "Exactly. Or whatever you guys are talking about."
Kirby continues. "Say, if Kawasaki was here, you figure other enemies would be here like Driblee?"
I shrug.
"Say, I haven't learnt about..." Ms. Iparis pauses for a moment. "...the pink guy's language. What is it supposed to be."
Kirby gives an angered look, like he's dissapointed, but I start to explain.
"You see, Kirby is known as a species called, well, kirby. You would hear it as 'Poyo' or 'Hoooo,' but I can translate it as normal english."
"And how can I understand that he doesn't speak english?"
"Kirby, try to say 'Scarfy,' ok?"
He starts to speak up again. "Scaf! Scaf!" I can translate that as Scarfy, but I guess the girl doesn't really understand.
"Doesn't seem like any kind of language I learned of," She replies.
After that happened, Day brought back the water, and for the rest of the day we had to stay under the market vendors, which it seems like they're being run by people I know. Some Chips and Ringles, maybe a Coner or two?
The other three were talking, and at first I ignored them, as I was trying to theorize the detials. Eventually, I got bored and listened to their conversation with Kirby.
Day is the first one I listen to. "...You're a perceptive one, Girl. I can see why you and the puffball survived on the streets."
Kirby starts to get in, and I translate. "Hey, pretty much all you need is perception and a bit of fighting skills."
"I mean, it's the only way to survive, isn't it?" Ms. Iparis asks.
"Basically," I reply.
Day continues talking. "Maybe you and the small guys should be the one to help us steal some food, not me. Vendors always trust girls and cute things more, especially ones like you guys."
I blush from the flatterness. Although I don't really like my cute face, I love when some one compliments it. I still try to stay strong without lowering my guard. After all, I'm not just a pretty face.
"What do you mean by that?" I ask, still flattered.
"You get right to the point."
Ms. Iparis smiles and ends the conversation. "As do you."
I suddenly sense something from these two. Something unusual? Who knows. I'll want to investigate this more.
Evening comes, and the heat is no more. We all went back to the water's edge amd tried searching for a camping spot. Nothing but candles near windows, moving soldiers, and possibly groups of homeless people and Yarikos, standing around Bobos.
Tess is curently humming a tune I've pretty much heard of before. Butter Building. Hey, if they're gonna show my species to me, they might as well let me hear my own tunes from home. I don't stop and ask how she know's about this song, but instead I join in. Then Ms. Iparis says something that shocks me.
"Elector's Waltz."
Elector's Waltz? What kind of a fu- wait, I'm going too far here. Maybe I can hear them out?
"Sound's like you're a fan of Lincoln, yeah?" Day asks.
I start thinking. What kind of person named Lincoln steals the Butter Building theme and uses it for their own? Then again, I've heard Walkys sing some tune called "Banana Man," somehow by this guy named "Tally Hall" I think? I'm gonna say it comes from this universe, so I guess we're equal now. I keep my non-existant mouth shut."Yeah, guess so," she replies.
The weird sense from before comes back again as Day smiles at Mr. Iparis. Surely, there's was a meaning behind this sense, right?
About 30 minutes later, we're guided to an alley. Nothing unusual, just a bunch of metal trash bins. Day pushes one of them to give all of us some room, and Kirby just ate them and spat them out into a star, as usual. I don't really get why Kirby does that to get rid of something, but hey, as long as it works. We're then motioned to sit down while Day couches and unbuttons his vest. Never in my life have I ever seen the inside of a human, especially this guy. Me and Kirby just looked confused as he takes it off. Then I see Ms. Iparis blushing.
She speaks up. "I'm not cold and I'm not bleeding. Keep your clothes on."
Day replies. "Who said anything about you, sweetheart?"
OHHHHHH! THAT'S WHAT I WAS SENSING! LOVE! OF COURSE! Kirby pretty much acts like a 5 year old when he sees this stuff, even though he always does and he's like 29 at the time of you listening to this. Luckly, he doesn't know it yet. It's basically his weakpoint, since no one in Dream Land has actually DONE love. We're either friends, or enemies, which ever one of the two. Sure, we know about it, but that doesn't mean we really care about it.Anyways, after that, Day lays the vest on the floor, and Tess sits down and uses it like a pillow. After a quick chat and a sleepy girl starts to drift off, Kirby speaks up, and I translate once again. "I guess that girl is fragile, isn't she?" He gives a confused look.
"Yeah... but she's tougher than she looks," Day replies.
Ms. Iparis speaks up, too. "You know, you're lucky to have her with you. She must've come in handy when she fixed up your leg." I notice her looking at Day's leg.
"Nah, I got this a long time ago. How's you and your buddy's wounds healing, by the way?"
I kinda forgot about Kirby's wound, but it seems like it healed up quickly, still leaving a little mark from where it came from. He gives a happy poyo, which just means "fine." Meanwhile for the girl, she says it's no big deal, but I can see the gritting teeth behind her closed mouth.
Day gets up and pulls out some kind of white wrapping from Tess' pocket without taking her. "We should change those bandages. I'm not as good as Tess is, but I'd rather not wake her."
I scootch over a bit more to give Day plenty of space. Now, I don't know how to say this, since for me it's kinda too over the top, but he loosens the bottom two buttons of Ms. Iparis' shirt, then pushes it up until the bandage shows. Seems worse than what Kirby had, and it seems like the knife did a good job of stabbing them both. Day then pulls out some kind of compact kitchen knife (Why does it remind me of Kawasaki? It usually doesn't.) and tells her to hold still.
As he replaces the bandage with a new one, I can see Kirby on the other side, with a worried face. I don't know if it's because he's worried about Ms. Iparis or if he finally caught on about the love sense too.
"We'll stay here until late morning," Day says, "We shouldn't have traveled so much today, but y'know, putting some distance between us and the Skiz folks wasn't suck a bad idea."
All of a sudden, Day draws nearer towards Ms. Iparis, and Kirby looked like he was ready to run. I quickly went to him to promise that nothing bad would happen.
"Kirby, it's ok," I told him, "I don't think they would kiss THAT fast with us around. Look, we can get some ice cream on me once we got home, ok?"
I hear a poyo, but I'm unable to translate it well. It sounds like he complies, though. I tighten my hand around his to make sure he doesn't run. Luckly, Day finally tightens the new bandage, tugs the shirt back in, and pulls away. He leans against the wall beside the girl and rests his arms against his knees. Me and Kirby sit next to him.
"Seems like we're all tired, aren't we?" I started up.
Ms. Iparis shakes her head. "I think me and puffy here can leave you guys alone after another day. I know I'm slowing you down."
I sense something from her voice, like she DOESN'T want to leave. Day speaks up once more.
"So, where will the both of you go?"
"East, maybe. I'm more used to the inner sectors."
I interrupt. "Hey, you can stay longer if you want. I mean, if all you're gonna do is wander the streets without reason, at least WE can give you a reason. Wouldn't you agree, Kirby?"
"Poyo!" It translates to a happy yeah.
"I could use a good fighter like you," Day continues, "We can make quick cash in Skiz fights and split our food supplies. We'll both do better."
"Thanks, but I prefer to work alone," Ms. Iparis replies.
Me and Kirby trade each other sad faces, but Day just complies that it's fair enough.
After a while, Day and Kirby are already asleep. For me, I was just about to drift off, my eyes still closed. All of a sudden, I hear something from Ms. Iparis.
Crying.
