By the next month, Poppy had most of the wedding plans completely.
We both are excited to get married and she has been working on it in her spare time. Our wedding date is August 17th and well that's next week.
Between her mom and aunts and Lilly, she has it all planned out. We are going to get married out in the apple orchard because it's special to both of us and everyone on this Ranch.
I was in the stables checking on the foal when Brennon walked up. "Hey, man how's it going?" He asked.
"It's all good. I have been meaning to talk to you. I was hoping you were serious about being my best man because I need one." I laughed.
"Hell yeah, I was being serious. Just tell me what I need to wear and the day." He said.
"Well Poppy has it all planned and I need to go be fitted for my outfit here in a few days if you can go with me," I said.
"Sure that sounds great," Brennon said.
"What sounds great?" Poppy asked when she walked in.
"Brennon is going to be my best man and I told him we go for a fitting in a few days," I said.
"Oh yeah, that will be great. Lilly and I are going for our last fitting tomorrow." She smiled.
"So are you ready to get married next week?" Brennon asked her.
"Yes, I'm so excited. I'm going to ride Cotton up to the apple orchard and Luke will ride Champ." She smiled.
"Whats Romeo's roll?" Brennon asked.
"He will walk down the aisle with you. The rings will be tied on his little tux." She smiled.
I love watching her face when she talks about our wedding and how excited she gets about it.
The wedding won't be big but it's what she wants. I asked Brennon to be my best man well because my brother isn't sure if he will make it or not.
My mom was upset about it but I can't be mad at him. He's following his dreams.
"Your excited right Luke?" She asked.
"Yeah, I cant wait to marry you." I smiled at her.
"I'm going to go check on that sow that's pregnant and see if she's showing any signs yet." She said.
"Alright keep me posted we may be in for a long night again," I said.
"Well, I'm going down to bale some hay up," Brennon said.
I finished checking on the other animals when I heard Poppy hollering and I jumped up and ran to where she was in the old barn and she was screaming.
"What's the matter?" I asked out of breath.
"The sow she got one stuck and she's bleeding." She said with tears in her eyes.
"It's ok let me take over," I said as I went closer to assess the sow and I could tell she was in trouble.
"Is she going to be ok Luke?" She asked.
"You're the vet you tell me. What do you think Poppy?"
"I know that you will save her but what can I do to help?" She asked.
"Grab two gloves so we can help her out," I said.
She rushed and grabbed the gloves and came back. "Do you want to do it?" She asked.
"No, I think you should. I know you can do it, Poppy." I said moving out of the way.
She walked over and got on her knees and begin getting the baby unstuck. I watched everything she had done and well she didn't need any help from me. She did it perfectly and the little piglet was just fine.
"Oh my god, that was so scary!" She said holding her chest.
"You did great Poppy. I'm proud of you." I smiled as I sit on the ground beside her.
"No comfy blanket this time. We will have to wait until she's is done before we leave." She said.
"We will be ok I'm sure." I smiled over at her.
She leaned over and kissed my lips. "Are you ready to get married next weekend?"
"I'm more than ready to marry you. I would marry you here today in this barn if it made you happy." I said.
"I hope you like the orchard and getting married at night with the twinkling lights like when you proposed to me." She smiled.
"One of the best nights of my life Poppy," I said.
"It was one of mine as well. I thought graduating and becoming a vet was what I was looking most forward to and my life would be fulfilled but then I helped animals to be born and met you and my priorities changed." She said.
"I'm glad they did and I'm so happy I took this job. I almost didn't because I felt intimidated by Worth until I got to know him." I said.
"Oh, my dad is a big ole teddy bear. But I didn't say that." She giggled.
The sow begins to have the next four piglets one after another and before you know it she had two more which made seven in total and they were the cutest.

We sit and watched her bond with the piglets for the next hour.
Worth texted Poppy asking where we were and after she responded he walked in with a big bag of food.
"I had no idea we had another one ready to deliver." Worth said.
"This one didn't take too long. What do you have for us dad?" Poppy asked.
"Clara made fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and chicken." He said.
"We were going to head home so we will take it with us. We waited an hour after they were born." Poppy said.
"The first one the sow had a hard time and Poppy helped her deliver." I smiled.
"Oh, Poppy you forgot to tell me that." Worth said.
"I was so wound up I really just forgot dad plus I'm starving now that I smell this." She laughed.
"Well head home and eat. Goodnight you two." He said
