KAO
"How the f@ck did you understand all of this Kao? It's only the first subject and my brain cells can no longer function properly." James exasperatedly says beside me once our Applied Hydraulics professor walk out of the lecture room.
"Don't worry, I'll explain it to you later on our free period." I pat his shoulder reassuringly before starting to pack my things.
"Thanks man, you're a life saver!" He was about to give me a hug, but I expertly avoided it and gestured to him to fix his things before we come in late to our next class.
We were walking down the hallway to our next lesson when we heard someone voice huffing from behind us.
"On your right! Passing thru!"
I instinctively pulled James to the side at just the right moment Marcus, one of our direct juniors in Civil, run pass by us.
"MARCUS!"
The enraged booming voice of Luis is what we heard next, just right behind Marcus, as he calls out his boyfriend's name.
"I love you, baby! I'll see you later!" Marcus shouts back with a wink before continuing running through the Engineering hallway.
This is not actually new. This is not Engineering building if you won't see some kind of chaos within a day. No need to worry though, it's usually just small harmless pranks.
And those two boys love pissing each other off, I heard one of our juniors saying that it's their 'love language' whatever that is.
I see one of the professors went out of a room to check and just get back in when he saw it was just Marcus and Luis. Huh, welcome to Engineering.
"Hey, the guys are planning to watch the closing of freshmen orientation later. Let's join them."
"You mean watch the juniors scaring the freshmen?" James invited me while we continue to walk after that little intermission.
Its already been two weeks since the opening of the school year we are now on our senior year and it means the end of Engineering welcoming party as we jokingly call it.
"Ow come on Kao, you were one of the committee last year. It will be fun to watch how the third years handles the freshies."
"And I hated you and Leon for that, it was so hard to look so stern in front of the freshmen for the whole two weeks."
Yes, I was one of the orientation committee last year. And it was no fun at all, during those two weeks I tried not to smile that much! I know the freshies needed that two weeks strict orientation to survive four years of Uni but it was so hard. I've never been that tough with the younger ones even at home.
"Don't be a spoilsport, let just watch. It's our last year in Uni anyway." James continued to persuade me.
"I think you need to pass my class first Mr. Diaz, to make sure you graduate this school year."
Both me and James abruptly turned when we heard our professor voice, we then greeted him and run inside our room with a sheepish smile on our face.
--
"Hey Leon, how's the closing going?" Me and James greeted the guys as we settled down on the bleachers near the field where the ceremony is happening. I sit beside Leon, a senior Electrical major who was the committee head last year.
"Surprisingly well, I don't even need to step in." We came almost at the last part, where the freshmen are now laughing with the juniors.
"Ow we missed the fun part, that so sad." James whines jokingly that earned him a playful punch on the shoulder from Matt from Mechanical, one of our friends and also a senior just like us.
