PETE

The blaring alarm coming off my phone woke me up early Sunday morning. Groaning, I forced myself to sit up even though my body is complaining telling me to go lay back in bed and sleep some more.

After waking up Kao last Friday night or Saturday early morning whatever you want to call it, I drove him home to the orphanage. I was tempted to just let him sleep here for the night but I was planning to have an early start on Saturday morning so I can cramp up all my weekend work in a day.

I did that because I want to accompany Kao buying his supplies and also take him to my parents' house today, you'll know why later.

Well, actually Kao has no idea yet of my plan. When we were driving to the orphanage, he mentioned that Papa Ed will be making his famous spaghetti meatballs for his birthday. He even invited me, it made me smile but I declined knowing that I was the only one he invited, I want him to enjoy the day with the kids.

I did ask discreetly if he has any other plans on Sunday other than buying materials, he said none and I think he just way too sleepy that's why he didn't much dwell on my question.

Getting up from my bed, I swiftly fix it before going to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a quick shower.

At seven am, I'm already washing the coffee cup I used for my morning coffee. No breakfast eaten, I'm planning to get Kao early so we can eat somewhere first, it will only be a twenty-minute ride from here to the orphanage.

It was Papa Ed who opened the gate for me, I greeted him immediately as I saw him.

"Good Morning Pete." Papa Ed greets back, "Kao didn't mentioned that your coming today."

"He doesn't know I'm coming." I say. "I want to invite Kao to go somewhere today for his birthday. Is it okay if he comes with me today?" I ask, hoping it will be alright.

"Of course, but you need to ask him not me." He smiles as he leads me to the receiving area of the orphanage. "You should have come yesterday for Kao's birthday."

"Kao did invite me but I was also busy with things yesterday." He nods his head at my explanation.

"I'll just get Kao. They were up till late last night that's why you won't see any kids running around." He motioned me to sit at the one of the wooden chairs before going to the bedrooms.

Not even five minutes pass, I heard running footsteps coming near where I'm currently at. A huffing Kao is then in front of me, eyes still puffy from sleeping and his hair is standing all over the place.

"Pete, what are you doing here?" He asks still catching his breath.

"I'll be coming with you to buy your materials for the thesis." I say confidently.

"But you said you are busy with work during the weekend." He reasons out.

"I finished it all yesterday. Don't you want me to go with you?" I ask, now frowning.

"No, it's not that, I just don't want to take your time." Pouting, now I don't know if he's complaining or just want to show me how cute he looks like while pouting.

"And I'm telling you, you do not." I then stand up putting my hands on top of his shoulders and slowly turned him away from me, slightly pushing him before adding, "Go get ready, I'm assuming you haven't even brushed your teeth yet."

He suddenly put his hands up to cover his mouth looking embarrass, and I can't help but laughed at how adorable he looks at the moment.

"Haha don't worry I didn't smell anything. Now go, we'll eat out for breakfast." He nods his head hands still covering his mouth before finally disappearing from my sight to get ready.
