-Still Dakotas POV-
I sat in my room by myself for a good amount of time waiting for Luke to come back upstairs. I passed the time by going on my phone and took this alone time as an opportunity to call Sage just to tell her I probably wasn't going to be home for a while.
"So they shot you in mid-air?!?" She asked on the other end.
"Yea, we still don't know who they are but yes I got shot in mid-air."
"That's kinda badass, don't get me wrong I'd rather you not have been shot but like you survived."
"Yea I did," I exhaled. "I feel strong."
"Because you are duh, after the surfing accident, practically your entire childhood, and now this. You're like a cat with 9 lives."
"Guess I've wasted about 5 of them."
"You're probably immortal at this point. But since it sounds like you won't be home for a few months I guess I'll tell you over the phone."
"Tell me what?"
"I'm gay..."
My mouth dropped open and the phone was silent.
"Well I mean bisexual but still," She covered.
"Omg Sage what?" I questioned still in shock.
"I was going to tell you sooner but I was confused and I was worried that..."
"Sage it's ok," I laughed. "There's no need to be worried, do your parents know?"
I heard her exhale away from the phone. "No they don't know, I have no idea how to tell them."
"Just blurt it out like you told me."
"No but what if they don't approve, I can't be a homeless teen."
"Sage they love you."
"Dakota you don't understand, they love me but they don't think I'm gay. I hear the things they say at the table and around the house. I don't think they are going to take it well."
"If you want you could wait a few months until I get back and worst-case scenario you can stay at my place."
"Really?! You'd let me!!"
"Of course, I would Sage stop being silly."
"Omg thank you, I love you. Also, don't tell Luke yet. I gotta tell someone in person." She laughed.
"Ok, I won't I'll leave that all up to you."
"Yay, ok well I'll let you go and rest. Hopefully, you come home soon!"
"I hope so too, I miss you!"
We said our goodbyes which were just in time for Luke to walk in the door.
"Who was that?" He asked putting a plate down.
"It was Sage."
"Oh, how is she doing?"
"She's doing great, she has something to tell you when you get home though."
"You mean when we get home."
"We already talked about this Lucas," I said sounding serious.
He looked over scared, "Ok I'm sorry."
I laughed at his facial expressions, "I wasn't being serious."
There was a little blush that spread across his cheeks and he started laughing along with me. The plate of food he brought up was just a smorgasbord of finger foods that were easy to eat and not super messy.
