"Fury's been notified," Natasha said an hour later. "He's not entirely happy about it."
"Yeah, well, neither am I," my dad said.
The only people in the room were Clint, Natasha, Bruce, Steve, my dad, and I. Bucky and Sam left to spar while they waited, and Wanda and Vision went off together.
"Fury wants Y/n to analyse Loki," Nat said. "Seeing as she's the only one of us with a degree in psychology, and she's got powers to match the ones Thor told us about-"
"No," Tony said. "Y/n isn't going anywhere near Loki."
"Dad," I said softly. "I can take care of myself now, you know. And I'm a part of the team. Let me help."
My dad exhaled deeply and hugged me tightly. I hugged him back.
"I just – I just don't want to lose you again," he murmured.
"Dad," I said. "It wasn't your fault. And that was nine years ago. I'm fine now. I can protect myself."
My dad nodded and sighed deeply. The elevator doors dinged open, and we let go of each other as Bucky walked into the room.
"Hey, favourite Stark," Bucky said to me. "Hi, other Stark."
My dad rolled his eyes and I smiled at Bucky.
"Hey, favourite super soldier," I said.
Steve scoffed from behind me, and I laughed.
"Thor and Loki have arrived," Friday said. "They are on the roof."
I bit my lip. In all honesty, I was kind of excited to meet Loki. Sure, I'd heard all of the bad things, but I'd heard a ton of good things from Thor.
"Tell everyone to meet in the lounge room again," my dad said, rubbing a hand down his face.
"Already on it, boss," Friday said.
After only a minute, all of the Avengers except Thor were in the lounge room. We all waited for the elevator to arrive.
The elevator doors opened, and the breath was knocked from my lungs as I looked at him.
Loki was gorgeous.
He looked similar to the photos from 2012, but he looked... better. Healthier. His eyes were a stunning shade of emerald, and his dark hair was groomed and stopped at his shoulders. His cheekbones and jawline were sharp enough to cut diamonds, and his lips were shaped in a frown.
"Friends," Thor said. "You know my brother, Loki."
No one said anything. Loki rolled his eyes and looked away from us. This wasn't a very warm welcome.
"Hi," I said, stepping forwards and holding out my hand to him. "I'm Y/n."
Loki looked me over. His gaze seemed to strip me naked, but I stood with my chin held high.
"Loki," he said, and then looked away.
Alright, then. I lowered my hand awkwardly.
Thor looked over worriedly, so I gestured for Bucky to introduce himself.
"I'm Bucky," he said.
Loki looked him over as well. The other unknown Avengers introduced themselves, until everyone was on a first-name basis.
"Well, Loki," I said, bringing everyone's attention to me. "I'll assess you, and then I'll give you a tour of the tower."
"Assess me?" he repeated.
