"Okay, team," Steve said. "This is a get in, get out situation."

My hands tightened around the straps of my seatbelt.

"There are thirteen Shield agents being kept hostage in this base," Steve continued. "Getting them out safely is our top priority."

I nodded my understanding. I flexed my fingers, willing the ice to rest just below the surface for when I needed it.

Nat landed the jet and we all sprung into motion. I ran down the ramp after Steve, throwing icicles at oncoming Hydra agents. There were much more than we'd anticipated, but it didn't really matter.

"I think they knew we were coming!" Clint yelled, shooting an arrow at an agent.

The arrow hit home, and ice exploded from the tip as it landed. The ice began to crawl up the agents closest to the arrow.

"What makes you say that?" I asked, swiping an agent's legs from underneath him.

"These. Guns. Are. Amazing!" Sam yelled as he swooped down and shot ice at agents.

I'd finally been able to perfect the magical pocket and keep my ice in it. Everyone on the team had at least one ice blaster.

"Thank Loki for that," I said. "If he hadn't taught me the magic, I wouldn't have been able to keep the ice stabilised within the interio-"

"Yeah, yeah, okay, explain it after the battle," Bucky said, shooting at the agents.

I rolled my eyes and used my power to keep the agents at bay. They swarmed out of the base like flies.

"We need a way to get in!" Steve said. "Anyone got any ideas?"

"Loki could teleport in," Natasha suggested. "Get the hostages out and then we won't have to worry about them."

"Sounds good," Steve said. "Send him in."

I smiled to myself when Steve gave the order. After the whole alien attack thing, most of the Avengers had warmed up to Loki. My dad didn't hate Loki, but he didn't exactly like him, either. I wondered how he'd react if he found out we were dating.

I began humming to myself as I fought, keeping my anxiety levels low. I didn't always enjoy fighting, especially since one wrong move could be the end of me, or one of my friends.

We all fought together, moving smoothly with each other's movements. An agent shot at me, and Wanda deflected the bullets. Steve threw an agent and Thor smacked him with his hammer. Clint shot at agents that got too close to Natasha and Wanda. Vision kicked an agent who was shooting at my dad.

We were a team, and we all had each other's backs.

"All of the agents are now in the quinjet," Loki said as he appeared next to me.

I resisted the urge to punch him. He'd scared me as he appeared.

"Now we've just got to take the base," Steve said.

"Roger that, artifact," Natasha said.

"Can you shut the fuck up about that, Nat?" Steve growled.

I gasped loudly.

"Steven Grant Rogers!" I yelled kicking an agent into Thor's hammer. "Watch your language!"

"Yeah, Steven," my dad said. "Watch the language. We have a child here."

"Just because I'm the youngest one here, it does not make me a child," I said.

We continued fighting until we had a hold of the base. Shield agents poured in from jets, and Maria Hill made an appearance. I watched with narrowed eyes as Natasha and Maria traded glances with each other.

Loki never strayed more than a foot away from me as we organised the base. I could feel his presence even when I wasn't looking at him. It was... soothing.

I walked around the base, looking for things that could be of use. Maybe a random USB lying around, or maybe even a secret door.

I concentrated hard as I used magic to summon my special glasses.

"What are they for?" Loki asked quietly.

"This is Mig," I said.

"Mig?" Loki repeated.

I hummed in response.

"Stands for 'My Intelligent Glasses'. I'm really bad at coming up with acronyms," I said.

Loki laughed softly as I put on the glasses. Mig immediately came to life, with information and data appearing before my eyes. I saw that pipes ran behind the left wall, and the wall to the right...

"Mig, give me an IR scan," I said.

There was a moment of silence before my A.I responded.

"Steel reinforcements, and an air current," Mig responded.

"Secret door, secret door," I murmured as I moved my hands over the stone wall.

One of the bricks move back as I pushed it, and the wall began to slowly move across.

"Yay!" I said, clapping my hands once.

I turned to see Loki giving me an amused look.

"What?" I asked defensively. "Secret doors are cool."

Loki chuckled and shook his head fondly. He gestured me forwards, and I walked into the room, ice at the ready.

Lights turned on and I turned around to find the source. There was no one in the room.

"Sensor lights," Mig said.

I looked around the room. There were computers and screens lining the walls, and what looked to be weapons on the other side. After a close inspection, I realised that the weapons were new inventions that Hydra must have been working on.

I pressed a finger to the comms in my ear, turning the mic back on.

"Guys, I think I found something."

The Avengers plus Fury and Maria arrived a few minutes later. Bruce and my dad were inspecting the weapons as Maria and Natasha dug through the information on the computers.

A crackle of thunder made me jolt. Loki flinched and stepped closer to me. I looked over at him and see him with his eyes screwed shut. I cautiously reached out with a hand and brushed his. His eyes still didn't open.

"I must... uh... attend to something," Thor said before walking out of the room.

It clicked into place as soon as Thor left.

Loki was afraid of thunder.

Screw it if the Avengers were here. I grabbed Loki's hand and stroked my thumb over the back of it. He squeezed my hand tightly, but not enough to hurt. Another boom of thunder sounded. Loki hid his flinch this time, but I still saw it.

After a few minutes, the growling of thunder disappeared, and Thor walked back into the room. He nodded softly at Loki, who nodded back. Thor knew about Loki's fear and was doing his best to make sure Loki didn't have to experience it.

I let go of Loki's hand after a final stroke of my thumb. My hand felt oddly cold without his, even though his hands were quite cold.

Thank you, Darling, Loki said into my mind.

I smiled softly at him.

Anytime.
