I wasn't always a Stark. Well, I suppose I was, but I didn't always know.

My mother wasn't able to resist Tony Stark's playboy charm and ended up having a one night stand with him, which resulted in me. My mother didn't tell Tony, probably because she assumed that he wouldn't believe her or wouldn't have enough time for me.

When I was four, my mother died in a fatal car crash. I was at day-care, and I remember being confused and scared when I was taken by an unknown woman to the hospital. I didn't quite understand death at that point but seeing my mother in the hospital that day made it a bit clearer for me. I cried when she closed her eyes, and I begged her to wake up.

She never did.

I spent a few more hours at that hospital. I had to have my blood taken to see who my father was, seeing as no one knew, and I had no other relatives.

All of the doctors were shocked when it was revealed that I was the daughter of Tony Stark.

Tony was called in to the hospital, and he walked in with a swagger that I somehow knew was fake. I somehow knew that he was pretending. I remember being scared.

He knelt down before me and looked me in the eyes.

"Hey, kiddo," he said. "We haven't met yet."

"I know who you are," I'd said. "You're Tony Stark."

Tony's mouth thinned.

"I'm also your dad, kiddo," he said.

From then on, my father and I became inseparable. The doctors at the hospital were paid off, so that Tony Stark's child would stay a secret.

He wasn't ashamed of me, and he made sure every day that I knew it. He just wanted to protect me.

We worked in his workshop together, and he helped me through school. By age ten I was ready to graduate high school.

And then the worst happened.

I was kidnapped.

My dad only told four people about me. Pepper, Rhodey, Happy, and Obadiah Stane.

Obadiah was the one who sold me out.

My dad was gone for three months. They were three of the worst months of my life. I thought I was going to be an orphan. I had Pepper, Happy, and Rhodes, but things wouldn't be the same without my dad.

Who would tuck me in at night? Who would make pancakes with me? Who would walk me down the aisle if I ever got married?

When my dad came home, I didn't let him go. I held onto him tightly wherever he went, and the only time he was able to get time away from me was at the party and at night. Even though I knew he wanted to stay with me as much as I wanted to stay with him.

That night, he'd tucked me into bed and given me a kiss on the head. A while after he'd left, I'd heard someone come into our house. I heard Obadiah's voice, and I'd assumed everything was fine.

Until I heard the loud noise. I'd gotten out of bed to investigate and find Obadiah pulling out my dad's arc reactor.

"Leave him alone!" I'd yelled.

Obadiah had spotted me and grinned evilly. Within moments, he'd used the taster-thing to paralyse me.

"Don't worry, Tony," he said. "She's going somewhere she can make a difference."

I didn't see my dad for another seven years. Obadiah sold me to Hydra to see if they could make me do anything special. After they got Loki's sceptre, they used it to experiment on me and the twins. They were in a different situation to me – they were allowed out of their cells most days.

I never lost hope that my father would find me. He was Iron Man; he could do anything.

The day before the twins left, the sceptre finally had an effect on me. I felt like I was burning from the inside out – my blood felt so cold that it burned.

Hydra moved me to a different base when they realised I could create and control ice. It only grew from there, and I could lower temperature and summon snow.

Half a year later, my father found me. The Avengers raided the Hydra base I was being kept at, and Iron Man saved me. I knew he was my father, but what if he'd forgotten who I was?

My father took me back to the Avengers' Tower and told the others to leave the room while he spoke to me.

"What is your name?" he asked shakily.

He knew. He knew it was me.

"Y/n," I choked out. "Y/n Stark."

That was the only time I had seen my father cry. He hugged me to him tightly, apologising over and over to me. I never blamed him for being kidnapped – it truly wasn't his fault.

The original Avengers were called into the room a few minutes later. The only one missing was Thor.

"Guys," my dad said quietly. "This is my daughter."

"Are you sure?" Bruce asked. "How do you know?"

And so my dad explained everything to them. I didn't let go of his hand the entire time. I had found my family again.

"This information doesn't leave this room," he told them. "The last time I trusted someone, she was taken away from me."

"What about Thor?" Natasha asked. "Wanda? Bucky? Sam?"

Tony shook his head.

"They can't know," he said. "Not – not until... until it's time."

And so I was a secret once again. I didn't really mind, seeing as I knew my dad was just trying to protect me.

I quickly adapted to life with the Avengers. I trained with them, I hung out with them, and I started going on missions with them. I went to MIT and graduated with top marks.

I got to see Pepper, Rhodes, and Happy again. Pepper cried when she saw me. She engulfed me in a hug, and I hugged her back tightly. Rhodes and Happy shed a few tears, and they both embraced me tightly.

There were only two instances where new people found out. Luckily, they were both Avengers.

Wanda and Bucky quickly became my closest friends in the team. We had all been kept at Hydra, so we were able to empathise with each other.

Bucky found out first. He confronted me after he noticed how much time I was spending with Tony. He had been told that I was a Shield Agent in training, but he noticed that I had the same mannerisms as Tony, and that we looked similar. I confessed the truth and asked him not to tell anybody, seeing as my dad was scared that I would be taken again.

Wanda found out second. She was a mind reader, and I was surprised that it took her that long. She understood why I'd kept it from her.

Soon enough, the Avengers became like a family to me. Even though some of them didn't know that I was Tony's daughter, we were all able to bond like a family.

When I was eighteen, I officially joined the Avengers as Winter Witch.

And that's where the real story starts.
