LOKI
Loki sat on the roof of the Avengers' Tower, twirling his knife in his hands idly.
Today marked two years exactly since he lost her. Since he lost Y/n.
Loki remembered the day all too clearly. Arriving at the frozen wasteland, and seeing his lover frozen in place by the very magic that was supposed to protect her.
Stark was the first to move towards her. He let out a strangled cry as he gripped her frozen arm. The ice around her was too strong to be broken. Tears escaped Loki's eyes and fell down his cheeks.
Loki had cried a lot since then. Almost every night for a month after her death. After that, he began to feel numb again. His brother tried to cheer him up, but even Thor was sad.
Y/n was the light in all of their lives.
She just brought a joy that no one else could. She was kind, she was smart, she was caring.
Was. Loki hated the word.
She was this, she was that. Because she was gone now.
Loki's grip tightened around the handle of the dagger she gave him.
Loki remembered when he first met her. He didn't like her, but he was intrigued. And then she was kind to Loki, even after everything she'd heard about him. Kind to him, even though he was cold to her.
And then Loki fell in love with her. Loki loved her more than anything. More than anyone or anything he had before. He still loved her, even in this moment.
Perhaps he should visit her. She was still in the frozen plain, her ice keeping her trapped there permanently. Loki wished that they could move her body, but if they did, they might risk shattering her into a million pieces.
The door to the roof opened and a pair of footsteps came closer to Loki.
"Thought I'd find you up here," Stark said.
Loki turned to look at him. Stark sat down beside Loki and looked at the skyline.
They were silent for a while, just sitting together. After everything that happened, Stark and Loki became close, in a sense. There were days where they spoke about Y/n, and days that neither of them could bare to mention her name. But they had loved her the most, and they sought comfort in each other.
And even though Loki would never admit it, he had come to like Stark. He wasn't as annoying as Loki had originally thought, and his use of sarcasm usually made Loki laugh.
"Two years," Stark murmured.
Loki nodded once, unable to form words. There was another moment of silence before Stark spoke again.
"Do you... do you think if I'd... if I'd been more... present, in her life... do you think that maybe... she wouldn't have done it?"
Loki sighed deeply and shook my head.
"Y/n was always looking out for others," Loki murmured. "She would have done it because it was the right thing to do. That is the type of person she was. She loved you, very much. She never thought you weren't a good enough father."
Stark was silent for a moment. Loki heard him sniffle, but he pretended to not to hear it.
"She loved you a lot, too," Stark said. "She loved you so much. Whenever we spoke about you... she spoke about you with such adoration in her voice." He paused for a moment before taking a deep breath. "You were good for her. I – I wouldn't have minded all that much if you two did get married."
Loki glanced sidelong at the father of the love of his life. She'd always wanted them to get along. And here they were, getting along.
It was a shame she wasn't there to see it.
And miles away from the two grieving men, on a frozen wasteland where a young woman sacrificed her life to save the world, the ice began to melt.
