Grian and his team were counting their equipment when the house alarms went off, "215, respond to a three alarm fire. Neighbouring houses are en route."

"Let's move!" Grian shouts, suiting up and climbing into the vehicle, he radioed over, "Show 215 responding. Estimated ETA two minutes."

"Copy that 215."

Once arrived, the seven story building was completely engulfed. Grian thought for a moment then turned to his team, "Scar, Ren, as our only EMT's I need you out here and ready for when we bring in injured civilians. Doc, Eddie, Justin, suit up. You're with me. Everyone else split up and help the neighbouring houses and get this fire contained. Let's go!"

The group did as told, "EMT's standing by."

"Copy that." Grian replied, "215 firefighters, Void, Doc, Merdon, and Sao going in to help citizens."

"Copy that Captain."

"Remember to stick together."

"Copy that Cap."

After locating three of the six civilians, the group got a call that the remaining members of 215 were inside helping with the other three. Grian's group felt the floor shift below them, "That's not good." Grian mumbled, "THE FLOOR'S COLLAPSING! MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!"

The moment they moved, the floor collapsed beneath them and an explosion wrecked through the building.

Grian was first awake, he couldn't see through his mask, so he took it off and crawled to Doc, "Doc! Doc, wake up, are you okay?"

He heard the gravelly groan from the German as he sat up, "'M fine. I'm alive, not hurt." He took one look at Grian, "Where the hell's your helmet?!"

"Glass is broken, can't see out of it. We need to get out of here." Grian looked around for a second and saw the team, and citizens, dead under beams and rubble, "Let's go."

~Meanwhile...~

As Scar was helping other EMT's, the building exploded behind him, "GRIAN, DOC!"

He saw Ren's panicked face and he paged the radio, "Cap, Doc, what's your status?" Silence. "Grian, Doc!? Anyone from 215 respond!"

Nobody paged the radio. instead they only saw Doc helping Grian out of the fire, neither one of them wearing their masks or gear.

"Ren! Get oxygen and call Xisuma over, he's gonna want to talk to his kid."

"Got it."

Ren and scar both helped Grian and Doc in every way they could. Grian was covered head to toe in soot, the same with Doc. Grian explained to them what happened inside and why there wee no others with them.

After a while, Grian, Scar, Ren, and Doc all sat in the back of an ambulance. Grian had the occasional cough but regardless was okay, the same with his team members.

"Grian?!"

Grian looked up and saw Xisuma running towards him, "Grian! Thank god you're alive. Where... Where's the rest of your team?"

Grian looked down and away. His voice was hoarse as he spoke, "We couldn't get them out. They were all dead under half the building then it was just me and Doc. We got Scar and Ren still, but... We're all that remains of our house.."

Scar handed Grian a bottle of water, "After the building collapsed, the gas leak got worse. Ren and I were lucky enough to be away from the flames when it got out of control." Scar stopped speaking for a moment to swallow the lump in his throat, "We knew something was wrong when Doc walked out having to support Grian."

"Is Grian okay?"

"A piece of wood cut his leg, but he's fine otherwise... Physically that is."

"Three quarters of my team is dead." Grian interrupted, "Mentally I'm gone. Seeing their heads busted open like that? There was no hope in saving them after the explosion." Grian coughed violently, he put the mask back over his face and breathed through it.

"So what happens now?" Xisuma asked, putting his hand in the middle of Grian's back, "You guys can't operate with only four people."

Grian took the mask away once more, "We don't. We have to wait until we get people transferred over. So until then, the four of us are on leave until we're absolutely needed."

Hours after the call, Grian went home and walked in hesitantly, "Etho? You awake?"

"You sound upset." The man's voice came from the kitchen, Grian walked in with his limp and leaned against the doorway, "You're... You're limping. Are you okay?"

"That third alarm fire today, we lost my entire team except for Doc, Ren, and Scar."

"Grian.. That's terrible." Etho walked over and helped Grian to a chair, propping his leg up on a pillow, "But that doesn't explain why you're limping."

"I got hit by a beam, it hit my calf. Bled a little but I lived."

"How long are you out of work?" Etho asked, setting a plate of food in front of him, "Or do you not know?"

"I don't know. But it concerns me. It... It's paid leave until we're back in service, so that's good. But until then.. We..." Grian sighed, "We wait until my leg heals then I go into PT for a week or so."

"Keep a positive attitude I guess dude."

"Oh trust me, I'm trying."
