Grian closed his locker with a sigh, someone grabbed him around his shoulder and he nearly screamed if he didn't see the man's gloves, "Gimme all your love." The man says with a chuckle.

"Hey Etho." Grian laughed, "What's up man?"

"What're you doing after school?"

"Hopefully breaking up with Sam. I need to find the courage to dump his abusive ass."

"Doesn't that dimwit go to a different school?"

"Yeah." Grian rubbed the bruise on his shoulder, "Last time I tried breaking up with him he gave me a bruise on my shoulder."

"How about I come with you? That way if he tries to hurt you I can-"

"Etho, I don't think you wanna deal with him. He-"

"He hurts you. I'll hurt him."

"Etho-"

"I'll deal with it myself. You know that."

"Whatever you say Etho.."

~At Sam's School~

The two saw Sam walk over with an annoyed look, "He's already mad..."

"Relax bud. It's fine."

"Who the hell is this Gree-on!?" Sam yells grabbing Grian's wrist. Grian yanked his wrist away, "You're mine and only mine!"

"N-No. I'm not." Grian glanced at Etho who was leaning against the tree, he nodded at him. Grian swallowed the lump in his throat, "I'm breaking up with you. You're toxic, a bully, and an abusive person. And I don't want any part of it anymore. You've been hitting on me for a year and I'm tired of living in fear."

Etho noticed Sam clenching his fists, the moment he lunged at him, Etho put a block of ice around his wrists.

"Don't hurt him." Etho threatened, "He isn't a punching bag. And good luck getting your hands out of that block of ice." Etho put his hand on Grian's shoulder softly, "Let's go."

Grian and Etho walked into Grian's house, "Suma? You home?"

"Who's with you? It better not be Sam. I told you I'd shoot him if I found another bruise on you."

"Oh that's right..." Etho mumbled, "Xisuma's a cop."

"He's also protective. Only never did anything while I was with Sam because Sam threatened to kill me in front of him." Grian mentioned, then shouted the next part, "It's Etho, actually. You remember Etho."

Xisuma smiled when the two walked in the kitchen, "So you dumped Sam?"

"With a bit of Etho's help." Grian grabbed Etho's hand, "He put Sam's hands in a block of ice when he tried attacking me for breaking up with him."

"I like him already." Xisuma looked at the two, "Dinner will be ready in ten minutes."

"We'll be in my room doing homework."

By next day, Grian and Etho were in science when the lockdown alarms went off. They moved quickly and blocked the doors with the rest of the class, hunkering down in the back of the classroom.

Grian huddled up against Etho clenching onto his arm. Etho held him close as banging started hitting on the door.

Please don't be Sam. Rang through Grian's head over and over again, tears of fear starting to peak at his eyes. Tears on his left evaporated while tears on his right started to freeze.

"Come out of the classroom Gree-on!"

"Etho..."

"It's okay.. You're okay..." Etho assured, "I got you."

The glass on the door shattered. Grian immediately took out his phone.

<G> SAM'S TRYING TO KILL ME.

<X> I'm here, classroom number?

The class screamed as Sam shot two bullets into the room.

<G> 246F, HURRY.

Grian watched, frozen as Sam climbed into the classroom. Grian could feel the heat from his Phoenix birthmark rising.

One shot. It hit Grian's shoulder, an alarming amount of blood spilled from the wound, "THE NEXT ONE'S GOING IN YOUR HEAD."

The next sound the students heard was what sounded like a taser.

"Dad!" Grian shouts, Etho putting extra pressure on Grian's shoulder, "Never a dull moment?"

"Not now, Grian." Xisuma says putting Sam in cuffs, "I've been looking for a reason to arrest you." He turned on his radio, "I need paramedics at room 246F, shoulder GSW. Keep in mind he's on blood thinners." Xisuma glanced back up at Grian, "I'll meet you at the hospital."

The two's teacher grabbed some hand towels and handed them to Etho while he kept the pressure on the wound, "Stay with me bud. You'll get to the hospital, you'll be okay."

By the time paramedics came, they took good care of Grian all the way to the hospital. He spent hours in surgery.

By the time Grian got out of surgery, Xisuma was beside Grian's bed while he slept off the anesthesia.

Etho was outside talking to his parents, "Mum, can I please stay with Mr. Void and watch over Grian until we know he's safe?"

"As long as you're fed and keeping up with missing work."

Etho looked back into Grian's room, "Thanks mum." As he walked in Xisuma glanced at the kid, "He okay?"

"He'll live." Xisuma said bluntly, "He had to undergo three blood transfusions to stay alive. I told his GP that it was a bad idea putting him on those blood thinners."

"Look on the bright side, he's still alive, got a couple holes in him but he's alive."

At that moment, Grian moved his head into the pillow a little more with a soft noise. Though he didn't wake up fully, he mumbled 'hi' and went back to sleep.

"He's gonna be drugged out for days." Etho chuckled, Xisuma agreed and they let the gremlin sleep
