Grian and Pearl were both at their mothers trying to tell her what had happened. Ren accompanied as back up in case things went south.
"So basically... Xisuma and Pearl were both in a severe car crash." Grian stated, "Xisuma died because of how hard he was hit. Mum I'm sorry."
His mother slapped Grian hard across the face, "IT WAS BECAUSE OF YOUR TEAMS RIG THAT HE DIED. YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE!"
Grian rubbed his cheek, "No, I'm not. I wasnt the last one out of the station. You need to calm down."
Once again, his mother backhanded him, "IT'S YOUR FAULT THAT HE'S DEAD."
"XISUMA'S DEATH WAS OUT OF MY CONTROL! IT WAS NOT MY FAULT."
"HE'S DEAD AND IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU." She grabbed Grian's shirt collar and whispered in his ear, "You're dead to me. Get out of my house, Grian."
"Mum-"
"OUT."
Once shoved out the door, it slammed behind Grian and Ren, causing them to flinch.
"That... could have gone worse." Ren said nervously, Grian glared at him and shook his head then walked off, "Sorry."
Grian got into his car and slammed his head against the steering wheel, "WHY DOES EVERYTHING I DO RESULT IN ME GETTING HIT?! Nothing I ever do is good for her, can't even breathe right. I swear to god this woman is insufferable. I'm her least favourite child, everyone knows it and I just- I can't with her anymore."
"Grian."
"I don't want to hear it, Ren. I'm taking us to lunch then we're going to the station. You are not to leave, I don't care what you need to do today, it's all cancelled."
"Grian, you know I can't just cancel a meeting."
"I DON'T CARE. YOU'RE NOT GOING." He looked at Ren with a stern, purple fire-y eyes, "End of story."
Ren remained quiet the rest of the ride. The air was extremely tense as they drove, no words, no radio was heard from anything.
Nothing was heard from Grian as the two were greeted as they walked in.
"She literally hates me!" Grian shouted putting his face in his hands, scaring Ren at the sudden outburst, "She blames me for everything and I'm not even mad about it because she never liked me in the first place."
"Grian... I'm so sorry."
"Ren, I just... I can't deal with her and the death of my closest brother. It's just too much."
"Maybe you need a break from work?"
"I don't need anything but food right now."
~Three Hours Later~
"WHERE IS CAPTAIN VOID!?"
Grian, who was currently standing in the middle of the room, rolled his eyes and looked towards the doorway, "What do you want mother? You told me you wanted nothing to do with me."
"I want to know if you can explain THIS footage!"
Grian sighed as he watched the footage of him going into the rig, "That's not me. It's another magic user."
His mother hit him across the face, "Don't you lie to me boy."
"I'm not."
She went to hit him again, but Grian grabbed her wrist tight, "Hit me again and I'll have you arrested for assault of an officer. Get out of my firehouse. You're not welcome here."
"I'd do what he says, ma'am." One of the team members chuckled, "He's a feisty one."
"I'm not one to make of an enemy." Grian rephrased, "That's exactly what you did. So leave before I have you arrested. Final warning."
Grian turned away and the alarm went off, "Let's move!"

While at the scene Grian was at the top of the building trying to talk down the person.
"Look, we can settle this on the ground." Grian said calmly, feeling the beam below his feet wobble, "So let's just calm down, breathe and relax."
The jumper started laughing at him, "You really are something don't you, Captain? Thinking you can take someone off a beam by talking."
"It's worked before, just come down with me."
He continued laughing, the person in front of him changed his form to Xisuma, "You wouldn't let your brother fall, would you?"
Grian's eyes widened, "You... You killed him..."
"Captain? Are you okay?"
"You ran the rig into X's car."
"Yeah." He changed into Sam, "And you wouldn't have known if you didn't come to this call."
"I can't believe you killed him Jamil!"
"I was the one for you! I was the one that wished to be you! It's not fair you get all the attention that I don't! I worked hard, I did everything to get noticed!"
"You killed." Grian corrected, "People don't acknowledge a murderer. They acknowledge heroes."
"Heaven is comfort, but it's still not living." He quoted, he grabbed Grian's arm, "Now die."
The man jumped off taking Grian with him.
When Grian hit the world, he thought he was dead for a minute. But he opened his eyes and colour appeared in his eyes and he crawled off the air bag, holding his arm.
"Cap, you okay?" One of the guys asked, "Cap?"
"F-Fine..." Grian stuttered, looking towards the other man who was being arrested, "I um.. I-I hit my shoulder pretty hard."
His paramedics guided him to the back of the ambulance and put his arm in a sling.
"Cap, can you tell us what just happened? You and that guy just fell eight stories. And all you seem like is that you're in shock."
"He was the one who killed Xisuma. Uh... So yeah..." Grian replied softly then heard a gunshot, each member ran over seeing the man who was once in custody, dead on the floor with a GSW to the head, "What happened?"
"He just shot himself for no reason!"
Grian took another look at the body and saw a flash of purple, "No... He did it because he knew that he'd die next anyways."
