"Everything seemed to fall apart so quickly. One day, everyone was safe and alive, the next, we start dropping like flies."

"HEY."

Caroline glanced up from the bed to see Daryl walking into the cell, "Hey." She replied quietly, "How was the run?"

Daryl shook his head, setting his crossbow down, "We lost Zach."

"I'm sorry." Caroline stood, "I should go find Beth. She's probably upset-"

"She seemed fine when I told her." Daryl muttered,

Her eyebrows furrowed, "That doesn't sound like Beth."

He shrugged, "Tha's just what it seem like."

Caroline sighed, "I'll talk to her in the morning. Maybe it just hasn't hit her yet." She stared at Daryl who moved to sit on the bed, "Are you okay?"

"Why wouldn' I be?" Daryl grumbled,

"I know it was Beth's boyfriend and all... but you liked the kid, too. Wouldn't have let him bother you if you didn't." Caroline stated, "It's okay to be upset, Daryl-"

"'M not upset." He snapped at her and sighed, "'M sorry.

"It's okay." She stood in front of him and brushed his hair away from his face, "Let's just get some sleep,"

Caroline gasped as Daryl pulled her into his lap, "Daryl, I'm serious." She smiled,

He groaned and fell backwards. Caroline caught herself on her hands, her hair creating a little curtain of privacy between the two,

She leaned down and pressed her lips against his, "Get some sleep." She whispered against his lips, "You need it."

"Even though we're safe, Daryl doesn't stop pushing himself. He has this need to protect everyone. It's nice, but sometimes I wish he would be selfish every once in a while."

The next morning, when Rick's alarm clock went off, Caroline smiled when she felt an arm around her waist.

So he did take her advice to get some sleep after all.

Caroline rolled over to observe his face. She loved watching him sleep, in a non-creepy way. She rarely saw him relaxed. This was one of the only times she could see that,

"C'mon, sleepyhead." Caroline whispered, kissing his cheek,

Daryl pulled her closer, "Five more minutes."
