"When does football start back up?"

Ele asks while typing on her laptop. I'm currently lying on her bed while she finishes writing an email. The sun shines through the windows— the good thing about lessons finishing up now and summer break next week, we have a lot of free time. I've already gotten everything sorted for our trip to Paris in a week, well my mom planned it for me. I haven't told Ele when we leave I'm keeping it somewhat a secret.

"What do I do?" And the silence and peace have gone. Liv is now standing in Eles doorway, phone in hand, her breathing is at a rapid pace as her chest is heaving. "What's happened?" Ele turns around to give Liv her undivided attention. "My dads just called he wants me in New York as soon as possible— I can't go." I go to get off the bed just as Liv sits on the edge stopping me from leaving.

"You may as well stay Carter," Liv says as she sticks her finger into my chest pushing me back down. "I love my dad but he's too much all the damn time." I notice Liv is bouncing her knee, up and down, up and down. "He loves you okay? I know how stressed you get before visiting him but afterward, you're fine and realised you stressed for nothing."

It's amazing how calm Ele is compared to Liv who is acting like a firework about to go off. "I know but he just stresses me out!" Liv runs her hands through her hair, "he'll ask," she starts listing them off on her hand, "are you eating enough," she points to index finger, "staying away from boys— especially those football players." She throws her hands up. "Clearly not dad." Liv laughs like she's gone mad, "it's because he cares." Ele stretches across to place her hand on Liv's knee to stop it from bouncing.

"He gave me one rule," she sticks up a finger to indicate one, "stay away from boys especially football players." I lean back into Eles pillows, this is the first I'm hearing of this, "your father doesn't have to know." She huffs in exhaustion, "babe if he wants to find something out he'll find a way." I know from my parents, especially my mom being an ex-model that Liv's stepmom is one of the best fashion designers in New York, and her dads some sort of businessman. If he wants to know something he'll find a way.

Nothing like Kian's family where they literally have eyes and ears everywhere but I'm sure her father would find a way to know what his daughter's social life is like. "When do you leave?" Liv checks her phone, "he's booked me a night flight on Wednesday." That's in a weeks time, it's currently Friday morning. "I was going to Spain!" She gets up quickly I'm surprised she doesn't fall back down, "I swear if he talks a bunch of bullshit— I'm out of there." That's the last thing Liv says before slamming Eles door closed. "Olivia the door!"

I pat the space next to me on Eles bed implying for her to come to lie next to me, she does placing her head on my chest while wrapping a leg around mine. "One week."

"Other than coming to Paris with me— what are we doing for the summer?" Because no offense to my parents I can't deal with them. I don't care what they say or do to try and convince me that they're in love. They aren't and it pisses me off when they try to act like it. But as my family says, "we never fail." And divorce is in their minds a failed marriage.
