All the hardest, coldest people you'll ever meet, were once as soft as water. And that's the tragedy of living.
A/N Heyyy I'm so excited for this chapter!!! As the title says, in which everything goes gracefully wrong. I'm truly sorry but it must happen, also if you see italics it is probably referring to an older chapter (flashback) So ig this is also gonna test your memory haha.
I didn't want this chapter to be very long because everything happens quite quickly and it wouldn't be as emotional, you know?
TW: Fire
Davina's POV
"Are you serious?" My laughing echoes through the kitchen, hand holding my stomach and cheeks hurting from grinning so much.
"Yeah, I'm telling you! This motherfucker almost got us all killed." Liam joins me with a few chuckles. He was telling me about the time Niall almost killed everyone by getting really drunk and flirting with one of their contact's daughters.
The blond boy stared at both of us with a pout on his lips, a beer bottle held captive between his hands as he also tried to suppress a smile. "I regret nothing," Niall says with an all too serious tone but I knew he was full of shit.
Liam, who sat beside him, punches him jokingly in the arm. Taking a sip from his own beer and swinging an arm over Niall's shoulders. "That's because you don't remember the parts you're supposed to regret." I can only laugh at that because knowing Niall, he could very much be a blackout drunk.
It was currently two pm and we were having the delicious salmon pasta Niall made and laughing at a few stupid stories from their teenage years. It thankfully wasn't a very warm day and a light breeze reached us through the open windows, the birds outside creating a wordless tune that worked as background music for this calm day.
I only wore my denim shorts and a cute T-shirt I found in Harry's drawer, I hope he won't mind. Niall and Liam also have simple white shirts and pool shorts on, summer heat very clear in their reddened cheeks.
Louis and Harry have been out yet again since morning. They first took Gemma to the airport, thankfully, and then said they had a few meetings to attend. Niall and Liam said they were gonna cook lunch and have a few drinks, so we have been hanging out in the kitchen since 11 in the morning. Unfortunately, Zayn said he would rather not join us, and I know by us he really meant me. It kinda sucks and makes my heart break a little, but I told Harry everything and he's been quite helpful in helping me deal with it.
"What was it you were telling me one of these days?" Niall asks with a mouthful, his hair all dishevelled and sticking to his forehead. "About Alicia, I think."
Right, I was telling Niall something cool about my friend but we fell asleep before I could even finish. The memory of Alicia brings a pleasing smile to my face, a little squeeze to my heart knowing I won't see her again but somehow the thought of knowing she's safe leaves me at ease. "So there was this guy who was constantly making sexist and inappropriate jokes in my class."
"Brendon the asshole?" He confirms, remembering the nickname I gave him.
"Yup," I take a bit of my food again before answering, remembering the iconic day as if it happened a few minutes ago. "One day he was saying there was no difference between 'yes or no' so Alicia went there and asked him if I could punch him. He said no obviously, so I did it." I shrugged my shoulder with a grin, it wasn't a huge deal and I was only 15 but it still made me feel like a badass.
That was a separate incident of course. Since I was young I've always been very interested in social issues. Though after years and years of inequality, tragedy after tragedy, it's hard to believe in social justice you know? People don't always get what they deserve in the world.
