Hecate woke again to weight over her. This time it wasn't a full body, but an arm was draped over her torso. She was in her own bed, and quickly realized last night's guest had spent the night. She did wonder how she always seemed to wake up before said guest, who should have been much more worried to be seen in her true form if she was really so worried about it.
As she stared at her ceiling she tried to figure out how the girl beside her felt different than a normal human. At the moment, her skin was cool, but not freezing. Honestly she only seemed like she was a few degrees colder than her own body, which made sense since Hecate tended to have a much higher body temperature than normal people, and Calypso was cold blooded. Which also sort of explained why Calypso kept getting touchy-feely. She was instinctively searching for the warm thing to control her body temperature.
However, she couldn't quite feel anything different skin wise. Sure, it was cooler, but it didn't feel slimy, or scaly though she still had to fight the erg to look. A few minutes past before Calypso let out a cool sigh, where Hecate realized the girl's face was buried into her neck with the top of her head resting against her cheek. She could feel the softness of her hair, as well as what she imagined to be the curve of a fin, but it was folded down and barely noticeable, but interesting.
Calypso seemed to snuggle a bit closer, before realizing the situation and flinching. At the flinch, Hecate's hand came up to gently grip the wrist over her chest holding her in place. Calypso's head moved back and away waiting for the woman's head to turn and see her. However Hecate's eyes stared up at the ceiling for a few more seconds before closing.
The wrist in her grip was not slimy, but soft. It had a smooth texture, and Hecate could definitely feel each individual scale under her fingertips. But it wasn't at all like she imagined. If anything it felt more like petting a snake than a fish. There were a few points at the base of her wrist, but otherwise it just has a slightly unique texture.
"I was comfy." Hecate muttered. "Don't move please. I won't look."
Calypso seemed to relax again. Hecate waited for the scales to retract and fade away, but they remained as she moved a little closer again. "Promise?"
"Promise." Hecate answered.
"It doesn't bother you?"
"The not looking or the scales?"
"Both."
"Your scales aren't uncomfortable." Hecate further proved this point by gently running her fingertips over Calypso's forearm. "I thought they would be more fish like, but they're actually more reptilian." She shrugged lightly. "And none of your fins or spines are stabbing into me yet so they don't bother me either. As for the not looking, I dunno. If it bothers you then it bothers me I guess."
"Then... can you do me a favor?"
"Only if you don't move."
Calypso chuckled a bit. "Can I... Can I touch your face?"
"You said you have claws right? As long as you don't tear out my eyeballs then go ahead." Hecate answered. "But afterwards you put your head back into my neck and we go back to sleep. Deal?"
"Deal." Calypso answered. There was a bit of shifting before Hecate could feel this soft chill hovering above her cheek. Calypso took a deep breath, like she was nervous before her fingertips gently settled against Hecate's face.
Hecate expected the texture to be different, but she didn't really notice anything out of place, other than the occasional point every so often. It felt like someone was running the pads of their fingers across her face, which was exactly what was happening. Calypso traced her cheek bones, and her brow, slipping down her nose before moving across her cheeks again. She didn't really know what the mermaid was doing, but she seemed to be focusing.
