Hecate didn't know how she ended up in the bed with Calypso doting on her, but somehow that's how it ended up. She was laying on her back after Calypso dried her off by using magic to simply pull the water off of the two of them. Calypso was laying beside her, gently tracing circles on the woman's arm as she watched, waiting for any more sign of panic.

"Really, I think I'm okay now." Hecate offered. "I've been holding my breathe for the last twenty minutes with no problem."

"I can see that." Calypso answered.

"And even if I did suddenly need to breathe again, then I'm not underwater anymore so I'd be able to."

"I know."

"Then why are you so worried about me?"

"I found a human diver while swimming once. Their leg was caught underneath a rock and they were drowning. The fear on their face as they knew they were going to suffocate so far down the sunlight was barely visible to them was horrifying to see. Once they saw me approaching that fear only amplified."

"You saved them?"

Calypso adjusted herself before placing her forhead against the side of Hecate's head. The vampire closed her eyes and allowed herself to see the thoughts of the mermaid who recalled the memory.

Hecate saw the world through Calypso's perspective. She could see very clearly at her depth, but there was bright color in the landscape, like she was almost able to see through a form of radar. Like she could see the outlines of all the shapes in different colors. She was practically laying on the sea floor, watching a human diver in a wetsuit struggle to free his leg from under a large rock as he was wedged in a valley deep at the ocean's depth.

He kept glancing upward, shouting into his diving mask and punching at the rock crushing his leg before eventually leaning over the rock, seemingly accepting defeat.

Calypso moved, lifting herself off the floor and slowly swimming towards him. "Don't panic." She called, getting him to flinch and spin to look for the sound where his eyes locked on her, now glowing form. "I'm going to remove the boulder, and carry you as far upward as I can. Is that okay?"

"Monster!" He yelled, trying to desperately pull away.

Calypso continued her approach, putting her hands on the boulder. "I'll just remove the boulder then. I won't take you up. Do you have enough air? Will you be okay?"

"I'm hallucinating! There's a creature down here with me!"

Calypso decided to ignore his rambling and push the boulder off. The man yelped with the rock likely crushing him a bit more before coming loose and rolling away. He quickly started swimming upward where Calypso just watched him go, trying to make sure he was alright as he did.

His words stung her, and he was the first person not a mermaid to see her true form. His words would stick with her for years.

"Ignore it." Hecate called. "You saved him and he was too stupid to see how beautiful you are."

"He came back with friends, trying to find me again." Calypso noted. "They had spears."

Hecate shook her head. "You're beautiful Calypso. I hope you know that now."

"I'm learning." Calypso answered. "You're teaching me."

Hecate turned her head with a smile, reaching up and running her fingers along the scales on Calypso's face and gently tracing the grooves on her cheek. "You are... Can I?"

"Please?"

That was all the permission Hecate needed before she leaned in again and captured the mermaid's lips once more. The hand on Calypso's face moving to the back of her neck to hold her close. They parted after a few moments, each wearing gentle smiles.
