"Hey Cally?" Hecate called, her head resting on the mermaid's chest as they lay on the couch, with said mermaid playing a game over Hecate's back while they snuggled.

"I know what I'm doing! You don't have to back-seat-game right now."

"My question was actually unrelated."

"Then by all means."

"How difficult is it for you to clean your scales... or do they clean themselves? Or do you shed like a reptile or something?"

"And you are asking these questions because?"

"Well, we've showered together, but you usually get out as soon as I start using soap so I was wondering if it didn't agree with you and you cleaned yourself another way?"

Calypso chuckled a bit. "Well, I don't enjoy breathing in soap so I usually don't use it on my body. My scales clean themselves for the most part but I scrub them at least once a week. I don't shed like a snake or a lizard. I do shed though. But like, a couple scales at a time. I'm honestly surprised you haven't found any."

"Well, I have found a couple, I just thought it would be weird if I kept them or asked you about it. I figured they must just fall off like I lose hair every once in a while."

"That's pretty much exactly how it works." Calypso nodded. "And I heard that the scales are used for alchemy but I don't remember what they're used for."

"Waterbreathing."

"Wait... you knew what they were for and didn't keep them?" She paused her game.

"I'm not going to go searching for your scales just so I can make a potion that I didn't think I needed for most of my life." Hecate laughed.

"You could have sold them."

"Then I'd have to give you a part of the profits since they're your scales."

"You really don't collect my scales?"

"Nope."

"...Is it weird to collect stuff like that?"

"Like scales?"

"And other things...?"

"Like... what other things?"

Calypso didn't answer.

"Calypso." Hecate gave her a mildly threatening squeeze.

"Feathers?"

Hecate sat up, lifting her upper body onto her arms so she could look down at Calypso who had moved the controller so she was holding it in one hand off the side of the couch like she was ready to set it on the floor as her other arm moved to her chest. She turned her face away from Hecate like she was too embarrassed to look at her.

"Do you collect my feathers?"

"Well... Yours have more meaning considering you're returning to your 'old self'. So I didn't think it was weird." Calypso admitted.

"For real? You're collecting them?"

"When I find them. I don't use them for anything! I just... I thought they'd be sentimental." She shrugged, her cheeks a few shades darker blue as her fins rattled nervously.

Hecate lowered herself back to her elbows so she was raised just over Calypso's body as she smiled at the mermaid. "I think it's cute. I didn't even think about it really, but you're right. Every feather I shed is a testament to how far I've come. It makes sense to hang onto them."

"It's not weird?"

"I don't think collecting my feathers is weird. I definitely think collecting your scales could be weird, but maybe we could just start making them into potions and selling them? Or even just selling the scales. But you definitely have to do it because if your friends find out I'm selling your scales they'll kill me."
