it seemed to be getting colder and colder everyday. it was already february, but the layers of clothes just kept adding on.
it was only the 3rd class of the day but hyejin couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. darn the cold. when in doubt, always blame the cold.
although, thankfully for hyejin, she had some time until the next class starts. so she rests her head on the cold desk, her head facing daeun, away from the sun beaming into the classroom.
"wake me up when the next—"
"good morning mr jun."
she grumbles, in her head, not out loud. mr jun is the scariest man alive. okay, that was quite an expression, but he is the scariest person in this school. it was already the 3rd week of school and he has made an achievement of giving homework every. single. lesson.
it's almost like he wants us to suffer, thinks hyejin.
the girl raises her head, looking ahead at mr jun who was putting stacks of paper, to which she assumes would be the homework for this week.
"you guys know it's already the third week since school started, right?" only the students seated at the front answered him. "and i noticed that none of you are doing any better in my class," he roared and almost everyone flinches.
"so, in order to make all of you do better in class, i noticed that you guys have your own seating arrangement," he announces, eyeing everyone, "i have made my own seating arrangement. i want all of you to follow my seating arrangement during my class— i don't care where you sit in other classes, but i want all of you to follow my arrangement."
hyejin rolls her eyes. what's with every teacher and seating arrangements? how does that change anyone's mentality to focus in class?
mr jun passes the piece of paper to the class rep, kang hana, and instructed her to make everyone change into the new seating arrangement.
hana finally reaches daeun and hyejin who were seated at the very back. hana looks down at the piece of paper then back at hyejin with a blank face.
"you're next to jaehyun, and you're next to taehee."
"who are you talking to?"
hana rolls her eyes, "you," she points at daeun, "you're with taehee," she says, "and you," she points at hyejin.
no.
no way.
"your seat is next to jaehyun."
there was absolutely no way.
she could not stand the sight of jaehyun— let alone being next to him. it's not like she could argue with mr jun, she definitely does not want to be yelled at in front of the whole class.
hyejin looks at daeun for help, but her friend had only shrugged apologetically. hyejin groans, internally, looking back up at hana.
"a-are you sure? that i'm with jeong?"
hana rolls her eyes again, and if hyejin wasn't so worried right now, she would've said something snarky, but she ignores it. "i'm sure, hyejin. see, it's right here. it says you're next to jaehyun," she shows the piece of paper, pointing to hyejin's name.
and hana was right. jaehyun's name was right above hana's pointer finger. hyejin's eyes trail the next box, with her name written on it.
oh my god.
