it's been days since the article was out, but hyejin didn't feel even a tiny bit better. she has stayed in her apartment for days, too afraid to leave the house. too afraid to be mobbed by fans.

hyejin gulps, picking her phone up, letting her thoughts win. she opens up the chat with her friends who had sent her a link to the article and scrolls up to to the blue texts. her thumb hovers over it as her heart fastens its pace out of nervousness.

again, she lets her body win, letting her thumb drop on the link and the phone switches apps to safari. it loads for a moment, until it finally opens up to the new page.

she sees the familiar heading and she could feel herself getting anxious.

A fan found a few of NCT Jaehyun's old classmates in high school, and they shared some of the instagram accounts. A few of them said that Jaehyun had a girlfriend in high school, but broke up when he had to debut ㅋㅋ

hyejin's eyes train onto the photos that was attached to the article. luckily they had blurred her face out, but she still feels anxious to even leave the house. furthermore, she has a reputation now.

after the break up 5 years ago, hyejin spent most of her time crying over jaehyun. she had considered on staying in jeonju and never leaving for seoul, wanting to avoid anything related to him. but her parents had convinced her to go for 1M, since they had called her in.

i know, shocking— how her parents had to convince her to continue dancing.

anyway, after much persuasion, she finally decided to go. it didn't take long for hyejin to become one of the top dancers in 1Million. she is easily one of the best, and has gained a number fans after posting a bunch of covers and choreography on youtube.

hence, she was afraid if anyone would recognize her from the pictures.

hyejin's thumb scrolls down, looking at the comments, realising that it has gained over 1000 comments over night. she gulps, her throat feeling dry as she reads the comments.

a small 'ding' distracts hyejin's eyes from trailing the comments even further. she looks at the recent message from her friends, tapping on it.

'i won't let you be somber any longer, meet me downstairs in an hour.'

knowing her friend would take no as an answer, hyejin hurries to get ready.

hyejin stands stiffly at the entrance, staring ahead with a hurtful expression. she licks her dry lips, looking away.

"i don't wanna go up there," hyejin shakes her head with a sigh. she was so close to tearing up.

everything has just been so hard lately. with the news out, and how everyone was bashing her very old relationship, it felt like her life was falling apart. hyejin just wants to be alone at home and... rest. just a deep rest.

"we didn't drive all the way here for nothing," whines suwon. the other girl grabs hyejin's hands and drags her up to the top of the tower.

hyejin lets her, too exhausted to even argue with her friend. she hears her friend complaining how packed the place was.

it was a sunday, so it made sense.

they finally stopped when they reached the top. it was so packed, that a staff had to control the crowd. there was a staff member who would cut off the entry and only let you in one by one.

hyejin and suwon were next, waiting for their turn to enter the familiar place. hyejin lets out another solemn sigh, waiting for her turn.

her eyes scans the place with a frown, eyeing the different couples and friends writing down on the locket. her eyes meets a familiar brown orbs one, and her face drops even further, if that was even possible.

she looks away from his eyes, to his nose, lips and the familiar dimples. it's him.  she gulps, eyeing his dyed light brown hair.

he looks different. he didn't have his chubby cheeks that hyejin loved so much, anymore. he had his ears pierced, his black hair now dyed. but he looks, so good. and god, did he get taller?

she doesn't think she can do it anymore.

hyejin pulls away from his eyes, turning to her friend, "i don't think i can do this."

before jaehyun could even go up to her, which was pretty much impossible, since they were filming, hyejin had ran down the planked stairs.

hyejin blinked her tears away, her throat tightening uncomfortably as she clutches her chest. it feels weird. she feels weird. god, why was she feeling this way after seeing him?

she knew she was going to run into him one way or another. she thought she had prepared herself for this. she guessed wrong.

she shakes her thoughts away, fishing out her phone to book a taxi. when she turns on her phone, her eyes drop to the date today.

it was exactly a day before her birthday.
