jaehyun picks up his books, gathering it neatly before he tucks it into his black jansport bag. he makes sure he doesn't leave anything behind before he turns to hyejin's direction. she doesn't seem to notice him, too busy packing whilst talking to daeun.

his stares must've been too distracting for her, because her eyes suddenly darts to his.

they agreed to meet up to and fro school, since they lived nearby to each other anyway. but they promised that once they were in school compound, they would avoid talking to each other. it made the day a little more draggy than usual, especially for jaehyun, but he always looks forward to always being by her side.

"let's go," he mouths, to which hyejin nods stiffly, to avoid getting caught by daeun.

jaehyun gets up from his seat first, exiting by the back door. he takes his time to walk out of school and halts once he reaches the gates. he leans against the rock with a sigh, hands tucked in his pocket as he waits for hyejin.

he suddenly spots jungwoo leaving the school, walking up to him.

"yah," jungwoo nods, greeting him, "what are you doing here?"

"i'm waiting for someone," jaehyun replies.

"who?" jungwoo questions, but jaehyun doesn't reply. which made jungwoo become suspicious, "is it your girlfriend?" he asks, raising his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

shit, did they already figure it out?

"i knew it! you have a girlfriend!" exclaims jungwoo, beaming at his friend. "who is it? why didn't you tell me you have a girlfriend? yah, am i even your friend?" jungwoo frowns with his arm crossed.

"no, you're not my friend," jaehyun jokes as he shakes his head, holding back a laugh.

jungwoo punches jaehyun's shoulder lightly, "you're so mean."

"even my girlfriend doesn't say that," jaehyun scrunches his nose.

"exactly, so tell me who your girlfriend is!" jungwoo whines.

sometimes jaehyun wonders if jungwoo was 18 or 8 years old, with the way that he was acting.

"what are you guys talking about?"

their heads whip to the sound of the voice. their chins tilt down as they stared at hyejin in surprise. she had an innocent look on her face, confused as to what the boys were talking about.

"jaehyun has a girlfriend," jungwoo says, "but he won't tell me who."

hyejin's cheeks turns red at the mention of the word girlfriend. her eyes dart to the other boy staring guiltily at her.

"is that so?"

"do you know?"

"huh?" hyejin turns to jungwoo.

"do you know who his girlfriend is?" jungwoo repeats.

hyejin clears her throat, shaking her head, "uh, no. i don't. jaehyun and i are not that close," she lies through her tongue. she never knew that lying could be this easy. although, part of her feels bad for lying to her close friends.

"right, right," nods jungwoo, agreeing with her words. "you guys could never get along if i put you two in a room together."

his words reminded the couple of what happened the last time they were in a room together. jaehyun's ears turned at the memories.
