jaehyun sniffs, tucking his hands in his jean pocket as he walks into the familiar building. he has been a trainee for a few months, and he was awfully familiar with where things are now. he has made a few friends here and there, but not many.

one thing he learnt after joining the company is that there will be people who would badmouth you just for the sake of themselves.

it hasn't happened to him yet, but he has stories from his friends of such scenarios happening. it made it hard for jaehyun to even trust people from the company, honestly. it wasn't much of a problem for him since he usually likes being alone.

he has definitely gotten closer to taeyong, much to his surprise. taeyong was someone who has guided him a lot.

he was surprisingly an amazing dancer and was not selfish to lend a helping hand to anyone.

jaehyun shrugs his shoulder so his shoulder bag would rest on his shoulder comfortably. he presses the floor number as he waits for the door to open. once the elevator door opens, he steps out and turns right, trudging into the practice room calmly.

he spots taeyong and a few others practicing, but he pays no mind, jaehyun goes to his locker and keeps his bag and coat before he starts warming up.

jaehyun wasn't the only one juggling with school and being a trainee. there were a lot more trainees who were younger than he was. as far as he knows of, the youngest was 13 years old.

training usually lasts until about 10PM, since he is still a minor. but by the time jaehyun takes the bus home, he would arrive a little bit over 12AM. sometimes though, where he feels a little too tired, he would sleep over at the company's dorms, but it was always packed with so many other trainees that he would end up sleeping on the floor most of the time.

"hey," a voice says, gaining jaehyun's attention. he turns to see one of his close friends, johnny. "do you remember the steps for the practice last week?"

"i think so," replies jaehyun.

johnny grins, "do you want to practice together? i heard the teachers are going to be picking the members for the new group they're debuting next year."

"they're debuting a new group?" jaehyun questions. he couldn't help but wonder if he would be picked. but the chances are slim; he is relatively new to the company. jaehyun faces johnny, "why didn't you just debut with exo? you seem pretty excited to debut."

johnny chuckles, getting down on the floor and stretches his left leg out, jaehyun follows suit. jaehyun stares at himself in the mirror as he stretches his body until his fingertips touches the tip of his shoes.

"felt like it wasn't the time for me to debut just yet," johnny replies in a relaxed manner.

johnny was someone who enjoys cracking jokes during tense moments, brightening up the atmosphere, but despite that, he is also someone who is very sentimental.

"what do you mean?" jaehyun adds, "you've been training for almost 9 years, and you chose not to debut with them because you didn't feel like it?"

"mhm," hums johnny as he tucks his leg back in and stretches the other one out. "look, like you said, i've been here for 9 years, i want to be in a group where i get along with everyone. that does not necessarily mean that i don't get along with the other artists, you know? but debuting in a group means putting my soul into it, i want to enjoy to my heart's extent when i'm in a group. i think that's most important rather than debuting just to make money."
