the bright sun shines brightly in the sky, a golden hue laying on their skin as they waited to get into the bus. the teachers were still taking the students attendance, making sure that no one was missing.

"i'm literally sweating, what's taking so long?" complains hyejin, her eyes squinting due to the sun.

"yah, yah, just wait a little longer. our bus is not here yet," mr lee scolds.

"do you want to borrow my cap?" daeun offers, ready to take off the black cap that she was wearing. hyejin shakes her head, declining the offer sulkily. she didn't like wearing caps because it makes her face looks way more round than it already is.

she had purposely grown her hair out to cover her cheeks, but the moment she settles it down with a cap, she doesn't like the way she looks in it.

luckily for her, mr lee tells them to board the bus soon after. the students enters the bus one by one, mr lee doing a headcount at the same time. since the bus was huge, and the students could barely fill up the spaces, they had shared the bus with jungwoo's class to save cost.

hyejin spots daeun already seated, so she takes a sit next to her with a grin. hyejin does a small little dance out of excitement, to which daeun laughs at.

they suddenly notice a bag of chips hanging over their head, turning around, they realise that jungwoo and jaehyun were seated right behind them.

"you brought chips?" daeun asks excitedly, taking a piece from the bag.

"i have to, of course," jungwoo replies.

hyejin notices that jaehyun had a straight face throughout the conversation, so she turns to poke his knee since he was seated on the outer part of the seat.

jaehyun looks up to meet her eyes, a mischievous grin on her lips. "did you bring any snacks?" hyejin asks.

the boy was going to give a sarcastic reply, but instead, he ruffles through his bag, pulling out two chocolate bars.

his mother must've left the chocolate bars in his bag before he left home. jaehyun pulls out one chocolate bar, passing it to hyejin.

"share it with daeun," he says.

hyejin thanks him, turning back around to daeun. she tears open the packaging, snapping the chocolate bar into two, passing one half to daeun as they both snack on the chocolate.

"did you not eat breakfast? why are you so hungry?"

"i did eat breakfast," hyejin nods, "my mother made pancakes, but i had rice and meat, too," she grins proudly.

daeun clicks her tongue, shaking her head, "how are you not gaining weight with the food you're eating?"

hyejin shrugs, taking a bite of her chocolate.

the ride wasn't long. the school had planned a few activities for the students before they head to the campsite, and based on the itinerary, hiking came first. they reached the mountain before 10:30AM.

"god, i hate hiking," exhales hyejin.

"we are giving out a prize to the first 3 person who reaches the top," one of the teachers say with a microphone. "i want all of you to make sure you don't get hurt, take care of your friends, and make sure to drinks lots of water," he reminds, "in any case, if any of you get hurt, you can call any of the teachers using your phone, there are a few teachers stationed around the mountain with first aid kits, so you do not have to worry."
