hyejin looks around the theme park, finding a ride that she wanted to get on. she spots a roller coaster that was flying in the sky with people screaming. she grins, dragging jaehyun to the line.
jaehyun gulps at the sight of the ride, he was never good with roller coasters. he looks back down at the girl who was staring at the ride with excitement adorning her eyes.
"is this the one you really wanna ride first?" jaehyun questions, sweating, not from the heat, but out of fear.
hyejin turns around to look at him, hands still laced. "do you not want to?" she asks, worriedly, "if you don't want to, then let's not do it. i don't want you getting scared."
the way she phrased her sentence was hurtful to jaehyun.
"scared?" jaehyun scoffs, shaking his head, "w-why would i be scared?"
"i mean," hyejin sighs, her eyes darting up to the roller coaster going at full speed, "it is kind of high."
jaehyun shakes his head, gulping down the fear, "you call that high? that's nothing to me, lee," jaehyun lets out a nervous laugh.
"really?" she quirks an eyebrow, letting go of his hand to wrap around his arm, "you know, you're the first person to ride a roller coaster with me. all of my friends always say that they're too scared, so i have to ride alone all the time."
"yeah?"
it's not like it makes it any better that he was most probably going to face death in a few minutes. but he does feel bad, or, special in this case— being the first person to ride on a roller coaster with hyejin.
he would also be the first person to die in the arms of lee hyejin, because, god how fast is that thing going?
unfortunately for jaehyun, he doesn't have the time to back out, because the staff was calling for them to get on the ride.
..."i am never doing that ever again," jaehyun pants out in daze. he could barely walk straight, the ride was way worse than he had imagined. he didn't die though, so that was good enough.
hyejin chuckles, her arms wrapping around his waist, jaehyun's arms going around to rest around her shoulder.
"but look on the bright side! you got over your biggest fear."
jaehyun glowers at hyejin, "first of all, riding a roller coaster is not my biggest fear. and, second of all, if that was my biggest fear, i definitely did not get over it."
hyejin laughs louder, "okay, you big baby. let's go buy some food now."
jaehyun lets hyejin drag him to the nearest food cart. as they stand in front of the food cart, arms wrapped around each other, they scan the food items offering to them. there were a lot of overpriced snacks, if he was here with his family, his mother would've brought home cooked meals.
"what do you want?" jaehyun asks.
hyejin hums for a moment until she points to the sweet snack, "i want the pink cotton candy."
"does it have to be pink?"
"ask me that again," she threatens jokingly.
jaehyun feigns a smile, looking at the worker, "one pink cotton candy and churros, please."
hyejin fishes out her wallet, ready to pay for the very overpriced food, but jaehyun beats her to it, handing cash to the worker, then grabbing the pink cotton candy and churros from the man before they walk away.
