sighs wouldn't stop leaving hyejin's lips, as she throws different t-shirts in her luggage, not bothering to even fold it neatly.
"hyejin?" she hears her mother calls out, and soon enough, her mother had walked in her room. "are you done packing? we're leaving soon," her mother looks down at her messy luggage, "why is it so messy? you won't be able to fit anything in here if you don't fold it!" her mother scolds, bending down to next to her and helping her fold her clothes.
things had gone a little bit better ever since the incident a few days ago. her heart was till throbbing from not being able to dance, and, sure, she was crying every night, but she had a little more energy than the past few days.
and things with her parents were... normal.
they have been acting as if the incident from a few days ago had never happened. her mother would call her for dinner, but hyejin would reject every time— having no appetite to eat. her father, well, never really said much as usual.
"okay, make sure you get everything done in 10 minutes. then we're leaving," her mother reminds, standing back up to do whatever she had to do last minute.
hyejin sighs again, packing the last few things that she would need for a 3 day trip. she zipped her bag, pulling it up so that it was standing. she pulls the bag out to the front door, passing it over to her father's van.
wait, van?
"dad, why are we using a van? there's only 4 of us?" hyejin asks, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
her father worked as a mover, so he had access to all the vans that the company has. they would only use the van when more people would be travelling with them, otherwise, they would just use their 5 seater car.
"jaehyun's family is coming with us," her father says. hyejin could feel the world stop at her father's words. before she could even reply, she hears chattering from behind, turning around, she sees the jeong family walking down the hill towards their van.
her eyes bore into jaehyun's. he looked apologetic, it was clear that she didn't know that they would be meeting this weekend.
could things get any worse for hyejin?
"hyejin-ah!" mrs jeong calls for her name with a grin, "look at how much you've grown! you're such a big girl now."
hyejin smiles in response, bowing at the other family. each step jaehyun takes, the more nervous he gets. jaehyun finally halts on the spot, his eyes trained on hyejin.
"hyung!" he hears someone call. jaehyun looks down to see jihoon looking up at him with a toothless grin.
"hey kiddo," jaehyun returns the grin, his hands ruffling the younger kids dark hair. since they all lived around the neighbourhood, jaehyun had bumped into the lee's once in a while, very rarely though.
he didn't get to spend much time with jihoon since they had stopped being friends around the time her baby brother was born.
as everyone placed their luggage in the back of the van, they all then entered the van. hyejin's father was driving, next to him would be hyejin's mom. in the second row was jaehyun's parents, and in the last row were the kids.
hyejin's younger brother situated in-between the two.
the adults didn't seem to notice that the kids were being incredibly quiet since they were laughing over something. it didn't matter though, because hyejin would rather do anything else than look at jaehyun's way.
