hyejin went home alone that night, it did raise suspicions when her parents suggested jaehyun to come in and celebrate her birthday with cake this time, but she lied saying how he was tired and had already went back home.

she throws her bag on her desk before throwing herself on the bed. the girl could feel every ounce of disappointment she had for jaehyun.

she couldn't help but wonder why he would keep it a secret though. was he afraid that hyejin would get mad? if anything, she would be more than happy for jaehyun. she didn't know that his dream was to make music, but if it was what he wanted, she would always be by his side.

but why? why?

jaehyun has been bombarding her phone with calls, but she just wants to be alone at this moment. she wonders who knew about this, but seeing as how surprise daeun was, she was sure that jaehyun had kept it a secret from everyone.

she groans, turning to lay on her back.

she has school tomorrow, and hyejin isn't sure what to do. she isn't sure if she wants to avoid jaehyun or not.

"god, why is dating so hard?" she complains with a huff.

exams were only 2 months away, but here she was, stressing over the person she loves. her finger goes up to her neck, where her necklace rests against her collarbone.

"why do i like you so much, jeong?" she mumbles to herself.

the next morning, jaehyun wasn't waiting outside of her house, he wasn't at the bus stop either, nor was he in the bus, seated at the back and watching her every move. he wasn't in class when hyejin walked in cautiously.

she started to think that he was purposely missing class today, or maybe he went back to the company to practice and was too tired to wake up today.

she wonders how many times he has lied to her.

"jaehyun isn't here again," daeun speaks up, "he must've been practicing late last night."

hyejin doesn't reply, instead she looks away bashfully. she was too embarrassed to even face daeun, she must've thought hyejin would have known her own boyfriend's whereabouts.

"oh, he's here!"

hyejin's head cranes upwards, watching jaehyun walk into the class with all eyes on him. everyone must've known that he was going to debut soon.

as jaehyun walked into the classroom, his eyes searches for the person he had been trying to call last night. their eyes finally meet, and jaehyun could see the letdown in hyejin's eyes. he looks away, ambling over to his desk. he pretends not to see the eyes that was stuck on him, only thinking of that one girl.

...

daeun had her hand planted on hyejin's back, rubbing soft circles in an attempt to comfort the girl. after the little scenario this morning, daeun put two and two together, and found out the truth.

"i'm sure he has his reasons," daeun justifies.

"i know he does," hyejin sighs, "but doesn't he know that i would've supported him until the end?"

daeun doesn't reply, pitying the girl.

the sound of someone clearing their throat was heard. the girls look up at the intruder, jaehyun and jungwoo placing their trays on the table. jungwoo didn't know about what happened, since he had a huge grin plastered on his face.
