the faint sound of some old music that was playing on the radio was not distracting enough for him. jaehyun's throat suddenly felt dry, he shifts uncomfortably in his seat. his hands brushes against his throat, looking out the window as he watches the buildings leave him behind.

he takes a deep breathe, calming his erratic heart down. it was pounding against his chest, he was sure his mother could hear it from beside him.

"you're gonna do fine," his mother smiles, grabbing his cold hands.

jaehyun sends her a tight smile. he hopes he'll do great.

"we're here," the driver announces. jaehyun and his mother gets out of the car first, letting his father pay for the taxi.

jaehyun would've taken the bus all the way to seoul, but his parents were amendment on following him all the way to SM. about a week ago, jaehyun made a call to the company, saying how he was recruited by a member. he was told that he could come whenever in the span of a month for the auditions.

after planning out his schedule, he finally has time today and decided to go for the audition. he thought about it a lot— was conflicted between going and not going. and after talking to his parents about it, he finally decided to give it a try.

"mom and dad will be around the area," his father says when he finally gets out of the taxi, "give us a call when you're done."

jaehyun nods.

his mother could sense his nervousness, so she tugs him into a hug and plants a wet kiss on his cheek. "we will still love you even if you don't get it. good luck, jaehyun-ah."

jaehyun nods again, but this time with a smile. he watches them walk away from the building.

once they were out of sight, jaehyun turns around and scans the building. it was pretty big, but it looked pretty old. there was a huge SM logo printed outside the building, almost like it was mocking him.

he takes another deep breathe before walking into the building.

jaehyun reads the sign printed out next to the elevator. he goes to the 2nd level since that is where the receptionist is.

the place was pretty small, but he could see a few other, what he assumes are trainees, drinking their coffee and talking amongst themselves. that could be him too, he thinks.

jaehyun spots the receptionist at the end of the room. he nervously walks up to the man behind the counter, who seemed very bored of his job.

"hello," he calls, gaining the other man's attention, "uh... i called yesterday for an audition?"

the man looks back down, flipping through the book for a while before he halts, "jeong jaehyun?"

jaehyun nods.

"take the lift to the 5th floor and turn left. go in the 2nd door on the right, someone will be there for you," the male respond, he brings out a visitor pass, "tap this when you're in the elevator, or it won't work."

jaehyun quickly thanks the man, heading to the other elevator for staff only. he enters the lift, tapping the visitor pass against the scanner before pressing on the 5th floor button.

"shit," he swears when he feels his hand becoming sweaty. jaehyun wipes the palm of his hand against his jeans.

it was brand new. his mother had bought an expensive jeans after hearing he would go for the audition. she wanted him to give them a good impression. it was a little small, but he didn't want to upset his mother.
