there were countless knocks on the door, it almost sounded like a banging, followed by her mother's yells. hyejin groans, turning to the other side of her bed, taking her pillow to cover her ears.

she starts to fall back to sleep with the faint sound of her mother's screams covered by the pillow.

"YAH!"

hyejin jumps at the loud voice, followed by a series of groans when she sees her mother towering over her barely awake body.

"i told you not to lock the door, didn't i?" her mother scolds, the palm of her hand hitting on hyejin's arm, back, and butt. hyejin wiggles on her small bed, the bed croaking with every move she makes.

"go get up now, or you'll be late," her mother reminds. but her mother knew better, she waited in the room for hyejin to get up and wash up, but hyejin only groans. "now!"

hyejin finally pushes herself off the comfortable and warm bed, dragging her feet out of her room and into the wash room. since she washed her hair last night, she only brushed her teeth and washed her face with warm water and her cleanser.

after she freshen up, she ate a light breakfast, which was a simple rice and egg topped with soy sauce. after she had quickly eaten her breakfast, she went back to her room to put on make up.

she wouldn't really call it make up though, seeing as how it was just bb cream, mascara and lip tint.

"hyejin," she hears someone call her name.

she turns to see her younger brother standing by her door, "what do you want, jihoon?" she sighs, resuming to do her make up.

"i'm going to school now," the little boy says with a grin that had 2 missing front tooth. "bye bye."

hyejin hums, "be good in school."

her brother doesn't respond. dressed in his uniform, he skips away with a weird grin.

hyejin checks the time, her eyes widening when she barely has enough time until she needs to leave and catch the bus. she messily applies her lip tint and then changes into her school uniform. she reaches for a puffer jacket and school bag before bidding goodbye to her parents.

the bus stop wasn't too far from her house, only a 5 minute walk. but that 5 minutes walk was dreadful because of the cold. if yesterday was cold, then today was colder.

hyejin tugs her puffer jacket over her body, hoping it would warm herself up. she curses in her head when she realises that she had forgotten to take a heat pack with her since she was rushing.

the bus came along after some time. about 15 minutes later, she was stepping out of the bus and was on her way to school. she made a pit stop at the nearby convenience store and got her daily strawberry milk before she head to class.

hyejin was sipping on the sweet strawberry milk when she suddenly felt a harsh tug on her arm. she turns around at the intruder, and she could feel the anger rising up to her cheeks.

"wh—"

"i need to talk to you."

he sounded desperate, but hyejin doesn't care. with the grip so tight, he was hurting her.

"talk here," beckons hyejin.

they were in the hallway of where all of the senior classrooms were. there were a bunch of other students going in and out of their respective classrooms.

jaehyun eyes his surroundings, shaking his head, "in private," he says.

the girl frowns at the taller boy, "why? what do you want, jeong? what could you possibly want that makes you want to talk in private?"

"you talk a lot, did you know that?" snapped jaehyun.

"what is up your ass?" argues hyejin, "i didn't even say a word to you and you're always treating me like shit!"

"i told you that i wanted to talk to you," sighs jaehyun, his gaze glued on her. the annoyance was evidence in his face, which was normal. he only has that face whenever he was around hyejin, she realises.

"fine," she gritted her teeth. she lets jaehyun drag her to the rooftop where the cold wind blew in her face uncomfortably. "can you be quick?" she sighs, her hands wrapping around her frail body, "it's cold," she says quietly, assuming jaehyun wouldn't be able to hear.

they stayed in the corner of where the door was since it was a tad warmer.

"about yesterday," starts jaehyun. hyejin watches as he twiddle with his thumbs nervously.

"what about yesterday?"

jaehyun's eyes dart towards hyejin. "when you saw me walk out of the singing room."

she grins, "so, you were singing."

the boy sighs, nodding, "yeah. i was," he says, "i want you to keep it a secret. between us."

secret? hyejin couldn't help but wonder why. not like she cared to be honest, she doubts that jaehyun could even sing. although, she does wonder if he was doing this because of a hobby or it was one step towards a company.

"and why would i listen to you, jeong?" she asks, resting her weight onto one leg as she stares up at him expectantly. "you hate me and i hate you, so why would i listen to you?" she smirks, finally having the upper hand.

"because i could tell your parents that you skipped night class for dance."

no.

she knew better than to think jaehyun haven't thought it through.

hyejin's face falls, "are you threatening me?" she gasps, and a few pieces of stray hair had fallen into her mouth because of the strong wind.

"not really," shrugs jaehyun, "i'm just saying that if you could keep a secret, then i could too."

she would continue arguing with him, but it was getting way too cool. and knowing jaehyun, he would never back down until he won.

"i won't tell anybody," mumbles hyejin, her head tilting onto the green tiles, "it's not like i was planning to tell anybody, anyway."

but jaehyun doesn't hear that. he grins, sticking his hand out to the girl.

"we have a deal then."

hyejin's eyes gazes at the hand in front of her, before glaring up at the boy who had a shit eating grin plastered on his face. she shakes her head, turning away to amble back to class.
