the sun shines brightly through the dark curtains, lighting up the girl's room. hyejin wakes up minutes after, groaning in annoyance. she blindly reaches for her phone that she had left next to her pillow last night.

jaehyun was so amendment with wanting to call her the moment the clock strike 12, wanting to be the first to congratulate his girlfriend a happy birthday. to which he did, of course, followed by daeun through text message.

he was so proud to be the first that he didn't want to end the call. but they did after hyejin's threats, saying how she wouldn't meet him the following day if he doesn't end the call. to which he did right after.

"what time is it?" hyejin murmurs, turning on her phone to check the time. her eyes widens in surprise when she sees that it was only a few minutes to 12. "shit! shit! shit!"

she pushes herself off her bed, opening the text message quickly (to which she fumbles with, a few times), typing a text message to jaehyun saying how she was going to be late, with a bunch of typos since she couldn't see without her glasses.

the girl rushes out of her room to brush her teeth and combs her hair until it was suitable enough to see the boy she likes. hyejin quickly got dressed in a simple cream coloured knitted sweater and straight leg jeans. she rushes to put on a tiny bit of make up, and contacts before she finally leaves her house.

when she steps out of her gate, she sees jaehyun already standing before her house with his hands behind his back.

"before you nag at me," hyejin quickly adds, raising a finger to him, "this is your fault because you made me stay up late last night."

hyejin watches as jaehyun's lips part in disbelief.

"this girl," he sighs, shaking his head in disappointment, "if i didn't like you so much, i would've argued with you, you know?"

"i know," she grins.

jaehyun takes a few steps to the girl, pulling out his hands to show the flowers he was holding. it was a bouquet of tiny daisies wrapped up in grey coloured paper. hyejin beams at the pretty daisies, taking it from his hands.

"happy birthday to my favourite girl," jaehyun smiles, "i wish being 18 is everything you have ever wanted."

she could feel her heart flutter over his actions. she has never gotten flowers before, male or female. and jaehyun being the first just made it more special.

"it already is," hyejin replies, "did you get up early just to get me these?" she lets out a breathy chuckle.

jaehyun grabs her hands in his, tucking it into his brown coat pocket. "you don't have to know that."

the couple takes their time as they amble to the nearest bus stop to go to their first date. jaehyun had spent days planning the day out, figuring out where to eat, where to go and what to do. he even had a plan b just in cased it rained later today.

"ah, i forgot to ask you," jaehyun gasps, "how is your father? is he resting okay?"

hyejin hums with a nod, "he's doing a lot better than last week. he came back home just 2 days ago."

"that's good," the boy sighs. as the two waited for the bus, they enjoyed the sight of the falling orange and red leaves.

after the surgery that day, the doctor comes back with a successful surgery. hyejin's father still needed a lot of rest and was kept in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. but hyejin became less emotional after that, now knowing her father would be healthier after the surgery.
