the sound of skin hitting the wooden desk gains the attention from the students. mr lee stood tall at the front of the room as he waits for his students to settle down.
"this is the last week of march... do you guys know what this means?" mr lee has a huge grin covering half his face as he waits for someone to answer. he sighs in disappointment when he doesn't get a reply.
"you guys should know this..." he trails off, shaking his head in disappointment, "we're going on a class trip, of course."
and the class cheers at the sound of 'class trip'. from what hyejin heard, last year the seniors went to jeju island for 2 days. and, last 2 years, they had went to busan. she wonders where the school would bring them this year.
"where are we going, mr lee?" one of the students asks.
"the school have brought us to nanji hangang park!" he cheers, but the students doesn't cheer with him, "you guys should know the place is in seoul."
"seoul?" another student drags out, "the other kids got to go to jeju and busan, but we're going to seoul?" sighs one of them.
seoul was about a 2 hour ride from where they were. jeonju was beautiful of course, but they all expected to go somewhere that was a little further from home. hyejin had only been to seoul once, and that was to visit her family during new years a long time ago.
mr lee started to seem uncomfortable by the questions. he puts both hands up and shake them, "i wasn't the one who chose the destination. if i could bring you guys anywhere else, i would've taken you guys to france."
murmurs started to fill the room as everyone complained where the camping was going to be.
mr lee hits the wooden table once more, gaining attention. "the school is on a budget this year, so unfortunately, we cannot bring you guys far. whatever it is, we are going to have so much fun during this trip," he sends a comforting smile to his students, but nobody cared.
"anyway," he sighs, "the trip will be held next week, on the 3rd and 4th of april. the timing are on this form," he says, waving the piece of paper in the air. "i want this forms signed by your parents by the end of the week, or i will consider that you won't be joining us."
mr lee passes the paper down to everyone in the classroom.
"i can't believe we're going to seoul" complains daeun, "i'm so jealous of our seniors," daeun pouts.
hyejin sighs, "this is so unfair. but i'm still going to go. i really need a break from studying and dancing."
"you study?" questions daeun.
"do you want to die?" threatens hyejin. hyejin folds the piece of paper neatly and puts it in her bag, making a mental reminder to ask for her mother's signature later tonight.
"by the way, you know today is the english presentation, right?" reminds daeun, facing her friend. hyejin nods. "did you manage to finish it?"
hyejin nods again, "jaehyun is crazy good in english, though."
"of course he is. he lived in the states for 4 years."
hyejin's eyes widen at that, "he did? no wonder his english is really good. to be honest, i didn't even understand what he was saying, i just nodded to whatever he said," laughs hyejin.
that makes sense, since they had only meet when hyejin was 11 years old. even then, he was such a nice kid, until he started changing for the worst.
but after their constant meet ups for the english project, her opinions on him had changed, only slightly, though. they had spend more times arguing than actually getting along, but there had been a few instances where she had felt comfortable being with him.
