Chapter 19

Claire's POV

Kakatapos lang ng klase namin and we are now heading to the park.

"Anong gusto mong kainin?" She asked while driving. I thought magkaedad lang kami but it turns out na 19 na pala siya nung birthday niya.

"Ikaw." I nonchalantly said.

I heard her giggle kaya napatingin ako sa kanya.

"Pwede naman pero later na. Real foods muna kainin natin okay?" Okay lang talaga sa kanya?

"Sige."

And about nung birthday niya, nothing happened.

Her dad suddenly called her kaya walang naganap sa'min na lubos kong ipinagpapasalamat. Muntik na kase akong bumigay.

After that ay ganito na kami mag-usap na para bang ang manyak namin kahit wala namang nangyayari hahaha.

Niregaluhan siya ng Dad niya ng condo unit at dun na siya umuuwi. Minsan sinasama niya din ako pero di ako dun natutulog.

Nag drive thru lang kami sa Jollibee at dumiretso sa park.

Naupo kami sa gilid ng puno dito sa park at nilabas yung mga pagkain.

Puro kulitan lang kami habang kumakain at sabay kwento ng kahit anong maisip namin.

It's been a while mula ng maging kami.

By the way, we don't celebrate monthsary. Napag-usapan na namin to eh. Enough na yung nakakasama namin ang isa't-isa. Gusto din namin yung random lang kaming magbibigay ng regalo at hindi kapag may occasion lang.

"Do you think we'll last forever?" She asked beside me while holding my hand at medyo itinaas niya ito. "This?"

What's with that sudden question?

I rested my head on her shoulder at agad kong naamoy ang mabangong perfume nito.
"I don't know." I answered honestly. "If there's one thing I learned to be true, it's that anything can happen."

Naramdaman kong bigla siyang natahimik.

Muli akong nagsalita. "I know one thing though...." I felt her squeezed my hand a little.

I closed my eyes and continue. "You may not know what it's like inside my head before you came, but every day of my life felt so heavy, like there's this cloud hovering over me, following me wherever I go just so it could rain on me whenever it wants to. There's also this noise that I can't shut. That noise was my thoughts, my dreams that can't come true no matter how hard I try, the regrets, the pressure of life that keeps on reminding me of where am I, stuck in nowhere."

"Then I met you and everything went quiet. When I'm with you, all of my doubts disappear and it becomes so quiet that I can hear my own heartbeats in between our silent conversations. When you hold my hand, I just know that I can move forward no matter what comes my way, and when you're not around, I dream. A lot of them. I make plans and imagine our future together. I just hope that things work out for us."

Dahan-dahan kong minulat ang aking mata at agad na bumungad sa'kin ang napakagandang langit. The sun is already setting. Orange na yung langit and yung iba dito ay nag-uuwian na.
