The next day. Because of the holiday, I was sleeping all afternoon. That's when Mom called me.
"Liz!
Liz woke up! LIZ!" Mom called me like a thousand times to wake me up.
"What the hell!?" I asked Mom.
"Get ready, sweetheart.
We're going to the market." Mom said.
Mom and I went to the market.
"WOW!! Look at those apples!!
Oh my god do I see some fresh watermelon??" Mom said and ran towards the fruits.
Then suddenly Mom called me from there.
"LIZ!! Look who I met!" Mom said and showed someone.
I was shocked when I saw it was Elijah.
"Elijah?" I said shockingly.
"Oh hey Liz!!
Nice seeing you again!" Elijah said.
"You two know each other?" Mom asked.
"Question is, why do you two know each other?" I asked.
"This is Elijah, the son of my former High school classmate. Wow I haven't seen you in ages." Mom answered.
"I know, I almost couldn't remember you." Elijah said to mom.
"You've grown so much!
Liz the last time I saw this boy he was tiny." Mom said.
"Not that small." Elijah replied.
"And you became so handsome!" Mom said to Elijah.
"You're flattering me.
But don't say this in front of your daughter. She's drop dead gorgeous." Elijah said.
"I know…
She comes after me." Mom said.
"I can see that." Elijah said.
"So how do you two know each other?" Mom asked us.
"We just met yesterday.
Liz helped me with… some problems I had." Elijah replied.
"Yes…" I agreed with Elijah.
"Hey, why don't you have dinner with us?" Mom asked Elijah.
"Oh, that's really nice of you but I don't wanna be a bother." Elijah said.
"Elijah! Don't ever say that again! You'll never ever be a bother to us. I'd love to have you as my guest." Mom said to Elijah.
"You're being too nice Mrs. Varon." Elijah said.
"Please. It's Alice for you.
C'mon let's go home, the cooking will take some time." Mom said to Elijah.

Later that day, we were having dinner with Elijah. You can imagine how surprised I was when Elijah just appeared out of nowhere. It was really a big coincidence to meet him twice in a row. And that he and my mom knew each other. Well that was… unexpected. Nevertheless he was a nice guy. I didn't mind having him around. And he's going through a tough time right now. If my mom and I could cheer him up somehow, it would make me happy.
"Wow, that tastes delicious!!
You're a way better cook than my mom." Elijah said to Mom.
"Veronica was terrible at cooking, even back then." Mom replied.
"And she didn't improve the slightest bit." Elijah said.
"So, you're living in this town?" I asked Elijah.
"Yeah, we moved here a couple of years ago. You must be new right?
I think I would've remembered your face when I saw it." Elijah said.
"Uhm… yes, we moved a couple of months ago." I replied.
"How's Veronica?" Mom asked Elijah.
"She's a designer so she's traveling a lot." Elijah answered.
"Oh dear!
I remember her always doing some crafting in our freshman year. She was so creative with everything she did." Mom said.
"Wow, that's impressive." I said.
"I just wish she was around longer. She's always far away at some fashion show or looking for inspiration." Elijah said with that sad lonely voice.
"You're all alone?" Mom asked Elijah.
"Mostly." Elijah replied.
"That's not good. I'm gonna have a word with your mom." Mom said.
"No no it's okay. Really.
I wouldn't want to hinder her from following her dreams." Elijah said.
"You're her son.
You're not hindering her from your dreams just because you want her to be with you. That's what she's originally supposed to do." I said to Elijah.
"I'm fine with it." Elijah said.
"At least visit us more often from now on. I'll cook for you whenever you want. And you and Liz are the same age, you must have lots in common." Mom said to Elijah.
"I don't know what to say…" Elijah said.
"I agree." I said.
"You don't mind having me around?" Elijah asked.
"Of Course not." I said.
"You're more than welcome at any time, Elijah." Mom said.
"Thank You." Elijah said.

After dinner.
"Liz, don't you wanna show Elijah your room? I'll do the dishes." Mom said.
"Sure." I said.
I showed Elijah my room.
"Your room is beautiful. It resembles you." Elijah said.
"Thank You." I replied.
"Don't you think it's destiny that we met?" Elijah asked me.
"Hmm?" I said. It was strange I guess.
"The encounter at the park, my mom and your mom turned out to be former High school classmates who were friends." Elijah said.
"It's really all a big coincidence." I replied.
"I don't think so.
I think we were meant to meet." Elijah said.
"You might be right.
It's really too much of a coincidence." I said.
"I'm glad that we met." Elijah said.
Then all of a sudden something hit me. Not physically but mentally. The same strange dangerous feeling whenever I was with Ian came through me. The same feeling whenever I came in contact with a Vampire. That means Elijah is supposed to be a Vampire.
"You're a VAMPIRE.
Don't even try to lie, I know!" I said angrily.
First Elijah got shocked and then he gave a strange smile.
"Well you're full of surprises Liz aren't you." Elijah said with a mysterious smile.
"Get out of my house!" I said angrily.
"Why?
We're having such a good time.
I thought I was welcome." Elijah said.
"Yeah before I knew that you're…" I said.
"Don't you think that's a little discriminatory? This is not the stone age, Liz." Elijah said.
"It's not discrimination when that person wants to kill you." I replied.
"I never said I wanted to kill you." Elijah said.
"So, what are you doing here, huh?" I asked.
"Like your mom said, I'm her friend's son. It's only natural to reminisce in memories." Elijah answered.
"If you come the slightest bit near me, I'll scream for her. She'll call the police." I said.
"I mean not like the police could harm me in any way…
But your mom won't call them." Elijah said with a smile.
"Yes, she will." I replied.
"Nope.
Okayy, I'll be honest with you.
I'm not really her friend's son." Elijah said.
"What?" I asked shockingly.
"My mom Veronica doesn't even exist to be honest." Elijah said.
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"That I manipulative your mom into thinking she got a High school friend named Veronica and I'm her son. Who she hasn't met in years and missed so so much. I still have to figure out the reason why they lost contact. I think I'll go for something more dramatic. Like someone stole someone's boyfriend. But she might not like me then as much…" Elijah explained.
"LEAVE!!" I said angrily.
"Rude.
And then I've been nothing but nice to you." Elijah said.
"So sorry." I said angrily.
"It's okay, I'll forgive you.
You helped me a lot yesterday." Elijah said.
"Bullshit. You made everything up." I said.
"No. I didn't.
Everything I told you has been the truth. My heart really got broken." Elijah replied.
"Why can't I believe you?" I said.
"Have a little more trust in me.
I'm not that bad." Elijah said.
"Right. You only manipulated my mother into inviting you to our home to slaughter us." I said.
"So brutal." Elijah said.
"So, you only wanted to talk, eat with us?" I asked.
"Okay… maybe a little more than that. I actually tried getting in your pants first but then you have to hit me with those rude accusations." Elijah said.
"Which turned out to be true." I said.
"Still rude of you.
We had a nice time, you know. Trust me." Elijah said.
"No, thank you." I replied.
"Well then, I have no other choice than to just directly suck out your blood.
But let me tell you it feels way better when we're doing it. Think about it." Elijah said.
"As I said.
No, thank you." I said angrily.
"Oki doki.
Now lemme have a taste of that delicious smelling blood of yours." Elijah said and started to come near me. So I threw a box at him. He stopped.
"Seriously?
And where did you get that box from?" Elijah said.
"DON'T COME CLOSER!" I warned Elijah. It was the time I was calling my inner Maeve out.
"I'll BEAT YOU UP!
Don't think you could do anything to me with THAT BONY ASS!" I said and that was not my inner Maeve that was my inner Samantha.
"I mean DON'T EVEN TRY!
I've way more objects I can throw at you around me than you think! I'm like A MAGICIAN! You won't see them coming!" I tried to threaten Elijah.
But Elijah laughed loudly.
"Oh lord! You're hilarious.
You know now I kinda don't wanna kill you any longer. Would be such a waste. Till next time, Liz!" Elijah said and left like he just disappeared with a blink.
I thought he was tricking me but he was really gone. I guess my inner Maeve worked. She should be proud. Wait, I shouldn't be happy now… A Vampire just tried to kill me and he was still alive. For only a short time I thought about calling Ian. He knew what to do. Would take care of him, would protect me. But I couldn't. Not only was that selfish of me after I just made it clear to him, I didn't wanna be in contact with him. But it felt so weird telling a Vampire to protect me from another Vampire. But there was no one else than Ian who would have the power to go against someone like Elijah. Shit... It's so messed up.
