Love is the moonlight that illuminates the shadows in the heart of the wolf.

We walked back to the house in complete silence.
I thought about saying something, but it felt wrong. What was I going to say? ‚Oh, what are you trying to say?'?
The sound of the cracking branches under our feet was noise enough.
Now that I think about it - he didn't say a word either.
It didn't happen every day that some handsome tall man looked at you like that. Or reacted shocked about hearing that you were going to leave very soon.
But... What did he expect?
I wasn't going to stay at their house for the rest of my life. Or become their neighbor or something.
Urgh.
Would it be too late to ask what he meant by what he said earlier?
The room I was in became smaller and smaller. I felt like a hamster spinning in a wheel of a cage as big as a shoe box.
Did that mean he doesn't want me to leave...?
Although the walk back was excruciatingly awkward we managed to somehow get back to the house without dying of embarrassment. As I lied here in their guest room I was lost in thought, my mind bugging me with regret and better responses that I could have come up with.
„River?" Grandmas voice resounded through the door and she opened. „I am leaving to go to town. Do you need anything?"
I sat up straight and looked at her to answer.
„No, I don't," I said hesitantly, going through my suitcase in my minds eye which felt like a real exhausting task considering the thought clutter I had in between my ears.
She understandingly nodded and turned around to leave as Anakin's voice caught her attention. His lazy steps grew louder as he came upstairs.
„Grandma make me a list, I'll get you whatever you need," he suggested and glanced into my room.
„Are you going to buy the right ones? I need the right ones," she murmured. „You can go grocery shopping as well, while you're at it. I'll make you a list."
„Okay, grandma."
Grandma turned around once again, before leaving for good. „Oh, child," she said. „Why don't you come downstairs and help me drink my evening tea?"
I raised my eyebrows in astonishment and climbed out of my bed to follow her.
„I want the apples red. Okay? I am going to make an apple pie," she ordered her grandson cutely, while scribbling on the grocery list that she was going to give Anakin. „Don't you dare forget anything on this list."
Before she could finish her sentence her youngest grandchild began whining. „I want to go, too!" Keoni's black hair bounced up and down as he was trying to reach the counter.
„Okay, but behave!," Anakin warned, whereupon the youngest brother jumped out of excitement.
Anakin then turned toward me, folding the small piece of paper in half. „You sure, you don't need anything?," he asked.
„I'm sure, thank you," I replied and sat at the dinner table as Kaven came in through the backdoor - a big sack on his shoulders dumping it on the ground like a heavy sack of potatoes.
