Love,

a moonlit serenade, weaves through the shadows,

leaving a trail of celestial echoes.

After me and my family had left to return home my mom almost convinced Kaven to stay at our place when we arrived and she even waved him into the house, but he declined.

"Maybe another time," he had said and smiled guiltily which had meant he had wanted to but he couldn't. He obviously had had attorney stuff to do so he had left it at that. He had walked back to his black Mercedes G-Class, when my mom gasped and told him that he should at least take the cake with him, she had had made the other day, so he'd have food at home when he would feel hungry.

He had grinned happily and had taken the plate with the tin foil covered brownies and had thanked her, while Riley stood on the threshold, bouncing her eyebrows at me. I had sighed while rolling my eyes at her and we both watched my mom say good-bye to Kaven.

That fucking attorney. Who changed my life.

Riley's behavior reminded me of grandma before we left because she had messed around with me as well. But on the other hand it was kind of cute. We couldn't escape grandma's goggling eyes that had constantly checked us. Or more specifically me. Grandma had told Robert to go back to work and that Anakin and Nathan were also going back to uni since the new summer term had begun. Keoni and her were returning back to Parksville together with the dogs.

She had an annoying, knowing smirk on her face before we left and I knew in that moment that I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me entirely. Praying wouldn't help anymore she knew what had happened. I just hoped I didn't give the impression that something more than what actually happened, happened.

I sighed.

I couldn't believe Kaven had managed all of this. At all.

What the hell was wrong with these people anyway? Why were they so keen on having grand children?

Remembering what Kaven had told me the night before, I almost thought, there was no other way.

The next level of this is concealing your scent.

I blushed.

That explained why he was so infuriated with Anakin last night. He must have thought we were having a conversation about the deed while he was inside and unknowing about what was going on on the balcony.

But judging by his reaction, Anakin must have known about this as well. That concealing someone's scent meant being intimate with them. So there were things they were hiding and most importantly they all knew. And there was more to the story than they would show. Rules and rituals with wolves and probably shucks also, that had a protective utility to it.

The shucks.

Just the thought of them made my blood freeze and spread goosebumps all over my skin. They almost killed me. And my family. And they were after me. Still.

I wondered what else there was that I wasn't aware of because it was being kept a secret.

My hand slapped my forehead. I had to diminish over-thinking.

My job interview was in two days and I had to get some stuff ready.

This organizing and planning had been my newest occupation for the past couple of hours. I was sitting in my room and researched the address from Kaven's address to the Architecture Agency.
