--Chapter 3--

*Mel's P.O.V.*

I showered very quickly for school and wore clothes that aren't very first-class. Some of my old jeans, the kind that has that bell bottom and a simple white v-neck tucked in and a brown leather belt that's a bit worn-out around my waist and some brown wedges.

I sighed as I checked myself in the mirror. I groaned loudly when I noticed the dark circles under my eyes. My face was paler than usual. I blame last night. I couldn't sleep. I blame Joe for even telling me he has a girlfriend. That made me feel sick. I blame myself for even thinking he's cute. Look what's happening to me now!

I tied my hair to a high ponytail and walked outside, making sure that I didn't forget my keys. None of my parents will be home tonight, so I am bringing some keys. That just makes me like one of those latchkey kids which annoys me sometimes.

The school was right in front of me and I slowly walked in. I was scared of what I might see. Once again I was right. Duh, Mel is always right.

I saw Joe and a girl eating each other's face off. That girl I believe is Camille. Er, I hope.

I scrunched my nose up in disgust as I entered my homeroom class.

"Hey!" Kate greeted.

"Hi." I replied, not that much in the mood.

"You seem a bit down," Kate observed. "Why?"

I ignored her question and asked a new one. "Who was Joe kissing awhile ago?"

"Camille, his girlfriend," Kate stated in disgust.

"Oh... Camille," I replied as my voice trailed away.

"Oh my god are you jealous?" Kate asked with full excitement.

"No," I denied. "Anyway, why does it look like you hate Camille?"

"Because," Kate began, "she's a bitch. She thinks she's so pretty, and even if she's dating Joe she hooks up with other guys without Joe knowing! Joe is one of those guys who loves a girl so much that he won't believe others even if they say that she is a total jerk. He's too nice."

I sighed. "That's terrible! Joe can't get hurt! I won't let her hurt him!" I covered my mouth quickly, realizing what I just said.

"Woah there," Kate reacted. "You do like him!"

"No I don't!" I replied, trying to sound convinced. Hopefully it did. Er... maybe not.

"You liar," Kate teased.

I heaved out a loud sigh. "Fine, I do like him and I'm jealous. Please just don't tell the other girls?"

"Sure. I'm so good at letting people reveal their secrets." Kate said with a wink.

I groaned. Why am I having all these feelings anyways? Why do I feel this way? We haven't even talked that properly yet and still I feel butterflies in my stomach whenever I see him. Have I gone mad?

The teacher entered without me noticing, but I wasn't paying attention to what the teacher was saying, I was thinking about me. Have I really gone mad?

The bell rang, signaling it was time for Biology class. I groaned and made my way to the lab.

"Good morning class!" Sir JV chirped. "Today, you are pairing up with a partner."

"You," he said his finger pointed to me, "You go with Joe."

My eyes widened as I turned around to see Joe, a playful smirk on his face. Cheeky boy.

After Sir JV paired everyone up, I was sitting beside Joe, trying my best to avoid eye contact.

"Today," Sir JV began, "you will disect a frog."

My eyes widened and I heard Joe laugh. "You scared of frogs?" he teased.

"Well," I say playing with my fingers, "they're slippery and yucky, soooo me and frogs don't go well together."

"Don't worry, princess," He said with a wink. "I won't let the frog eat you."

I smiled. Inside I was dying, he called me his freakin princess! That cheeky boy is getting into my nerves. Someone save me from this madness.

The frog was soon in front of us, jumping in front of our very eyes. I let out a loud squeal which made Joe laugh loads.

He held the frog. "C'mon, you hold it while I slice it open."

I nodded and held the slippery frog. I swear, when I get home I am taking a 2-hour shower. I watched Joe as his hands open up the frog's body.

"Cool! Look at its heart!" Joe exclaimed. "uhmm... Mel?" he waved a hand in front of my face. "Examine the frog parts, not my face please."

"Shit." I muttered soft enough that he wouldn't hear it. My face turned to a vermillion red and I quickly turned my head to the frog's body trying my best to hide the blush creeping up my cheeks.

He chuckled lightly as he pointed the parts to me. "You see that? Those are the intestines, gross. The heart is still moving! And those are its kidneys."

"Yeah..." my voice trailed off.

"You don't seem very interested in biology, huh?" Joe asked.

"Nope," I admit.

"No wonder, you seemed more interested at looking at me rather than examining the parts," he teased.

"No, I am definitely not interested at staring at the face of a hippo," I replied, laughing.

"A hot hippo," he joked.

I laughed. "You're so cheeky."

He laughed some more. "I know I have cute cheeks."

"Joe, Mel, this is not a time for chatting." Sir JV scolded.

The both of us tried to hide our laughter. When Sir JV went to another pair, we started laughing again!

"You...are....so...annoying," I said in between fits of laughter.

"Look who's talking," Joe replied with a laugh.

Joe makes me smile a lot. The problem is, there's another girl in te center of his life. And the girl's name is not Melanie Grace.
