Chapter 3: My gift revealed

~Y/n P.O.V~

"Yes Abuelo...." I say as I take another bite of my breakfast

"You know Abuelo, maybe it's time you tell her why—" Marco starts but is soon cut off by Abuelo

"NO!!" Abuelo yells making us all jump "Y/n's still too young, I'll tell her when she's older" Abuelo says

"Just stay by me Y/n/n, ok?" Carlos asks me and I nod but don't look up at him

I push my chair back away from the table and grab my plate

"I'm gonna go and get a present for Antonio" I say as I walk into the kitchen

"It's still so stupid how he won't tell her, Y/n is smart, if she knew why she had to stay from Camilo then she would" I hear Marco say

"That's true but Y/n's also curious, and you know how she gets. She makes careless mistakes and gets herself into more trouble than she needs to be in" Ale says as I hear him munch on his food

"What even is Y/n's gift?" I hear Santiago ask

"None of us know, abuelo says that it'll only activate around Camilo." Marco says

"Does Camilo's gift work the same way too?" Drew and Grey ask in unison

"No, since Camilo is actually part of the madrigal family and was actually GIVEN the gift his works whenever he wants it to but since Y/n you know....."stole" part of his gift that means it can only activate around him since he's the like "powerhouse" of their gifts" Marco explains

I look down at my arm and see the markings, I trace them over and over again just hoping that something will happen, maybe that bright light will appear again or the marks will disappear but as always, nothing happens.

I sigh and walk towards the back door, outside always seemed to calm me down especially when Señora Pepa was in a good mood, there's always a cool breeze and the sun shining bright in the sky to where everything thrives in its light. As I walk outside I hear....singing?

"Welp guess the madrigals are already outside" I say as I begin to walk towards the center of our village

As I walk around I see Luisa, Isabella, Señora Julieta and Señor Agustín, Señora Pepa and Señor Félix then Mirabel singing about her family.....per usual

I smile and continue walking as I hear about all her family's gifts, not that I don't already know them all; Señora Julieta can heal people with a meal, Señora Pepa well her mood effects the weather, Luisa is super strong, Isabella can grow plants and flowers, Antonio's getting his gift tonight and Camilo can change into anybody.

I walk into one of the stores and am greeted by....a hiding Mirabel?

"Uhhh Mirabel?" I ask and I see her jump and quickly look at me

"Oh Y/n it's just you! Phew, I thought you were someone in my family or one of those nosey little kids" she says as she stands up and dusts herself off

"Nope it's just me" I say as I walk into the animal section of the store

"What're you doing here?" Mirabel asks as she stands beside me

"I could ask you the samething" I say as I look at all the animal cards, animal board games, animal paintings, etc.

"I'm hiding from those nosey kids" Mirabel says

"And I'm getting Antonio a gift for tonight" I say and finally pick the stack of animal cards

I walk up to the cashier and place the cards on the counter, the cashier begins to ring up each one

"So if you're in here does that mean..." I say as I point my thumb outside and raise an eyebrow

"Yes that means Camilo's outside pretending to be me, he sucks at it though, the kids have already found me twice!" Mirabel complains before we hear screaming

"And I guess that's your cue to hide again?" I say as I see her stare outside in horror

"Hide me!!!" She says before ducking behind me as multiple sets of footsteps come running into the store

I feel my arm sting a bit and look down

"It's starting to glow!" I think to myself before looking up "oh shit!"

I hear the cash register ding and quickly grab the cards and run towards the exit of the store with Mirabel right behind me

"Keep the change Señor!" I call back to the cashier

I turn back around only to be met by another human being, I yelp as we both fall over. I rub my head and sit up, as I open my eyes I see a bright light going off again.

I look down at my arm and my eyes widen as I slowly look down at the person I feel on

"Damn when you fell for me you didn't have to bring me down with you!" He says as he rubs his forehead before opening his eyes

I don't say anything as our eyes meet and both of our arms begins to glow brighter. I Scooch away quickly as he sits up fully, still staring at me.

I frantically look around for Antonio's cards and begin to gather them all, I reach for a leopard one when another hand touches mine. I yelp again and jump back only to land on....paws?

I look down and see I have leopard paws, I look behind me to see I have a leopard body and that's when I look up at Camilo and see him holding the leopard card.

"Y/n....?" He asks as he drops the card and I run towards it and as soon as I touch it I turn back

I stand up and make eye contact with Camilo again but before I can say anything to him, as he stands there in shock, I feel someone come up and throw me over their shoulder, as I look over I see it's Ale

"Sorry to bother you Camilo but we'll be going now! Have a nice day!" Ale says as Carlos comes up and grabs all the cards and us three run off

~Back at the house~

"YOU WHAT?!" Abuelo screams

"I ran into Camilo and I figured out what my gift was!" I say back as I sit at the table and fiddle with the leopard card

"This is bad! Wait...." Abuelo says before looking at me "what was your gift?" He asks

"I can shape shift into animals, so it's like Camilo's but with Animals" I say

"Hey the marks on your arm changed" I hear Santiago say and I quickly look down at my arm

"It looks like..." I start

"It looks like Camilo's door at his house...." My Abuelo finishes
