You knew from the very beginning that it wouldn't always be just the two of you. You knew Sayaka would eventually make more friends but you never expected for her to just leave you alone. Like if your 8 years of friendship meant nothing. All it had taken was for the school's president to bat her eyes and Sayaka would do anything she asked.
It first started off with Kirari asking her for favors, needing her to do some quick paperwork or needing to copy her notes. Then Kirari specifically asked for her to eat lunch with her alone. The classes that the three of you shared, Kirari always took the seat besides her and Sayaka never said anything. Eventually, Kirari asked her to be her secretary and you never saw your friend again.
It hurt so bad. To suddenly go from spending every minute together to barely sparing a second of her time to say hi to you. You weren't sure why you continued torturing yourself by sending her texts and hoping she would occasionally answer. You knew if she wanted, she would make some time for you but she didn't. She preferred to spend all her time with Kirari, effectively replacing you within a month.
The straw that broke the camels'a back was when you saw them kiss. Sure, it was painful to watch the girl you've been in love with kiss someone else but it was nothing compared to the pain you felt when you came to the realization that you were nothing to Sayaka anymore. The two of you always shared everything with each other and now you knew nothing about each other's lives.

Sayaka wasn't sure at what point she stopped making an effort to spend time with you. Ever since she met Kirari, her entire life began to revolve around her. She was too busy with homework, secretary duties and favors that Kirari asked her to do that she didn't have time for anything. You attempted to make an effort to keep your friendship alive but Sayaka didn't do her part. She was far too focused on pleasing Kirari that she forgot about you. The workload eventually lightened when the two of them started to date but it was too late by then. You were ignoring her at this point.
"Can we talk?"
Sayaka felt guilty as she noticed your clenched jaw and the tears forming in your eyes. Seeing the signs of you holding back your tears, Sayaka attempted to hug you for comfort but you stepped back.
"No. I'm sure Kirari is looking for you, though."
You quickly turned around and headed out of the class, not caring that class was just about to start. Sayaka attempted to follow after you but the teacher arrived and she couldn't chase you.

After her failed attempt to talk to you, Sayaka continue to try. Going to far as to waiting for you outside of your classroom and even going to your house after school.
"What is it? What do you want, Sayaka?"
You yelled at her when you opened the door as she continued to ring your doorbell for minutes.
"I just want to talk..."
"Talk? You want to talk? What is there to talk about? You tossed me aside as soon as someone else gave you an ounce of attention. I didn't a shit if you made more friends but you just left me! You couldn't even spare spending just a minute of your time to answer my messages!" You took a shaky breath trying to calm yourself down to avoid crying. "Even then, I still considered you my friend and hoped things would get better but they didn't. I tried spending some time but you were always far too busy for me and that was still not enough. Two weeks ago, I needed you. I needed you to be here for me so I called you, desperately hoping you would come comfort but all my calls went straight to voicemail and that was still not enough. I reached my limit when I saw you and Kirari kiss. We told each other everything and when I saw you kiss, I realized that I didn't know a thing about the things you had done in that month."
You wiped your tears, feeling like an idiot for crying over what had happened.
"(y/n)..."
"Don't, Sayaka. I'm tired. There's no point for us to even be friends anymore. You had a whole month to fix things and you didn't do anything. Just leave me alone."
You closed the door in her face and broke down as soon as you locked the door.

Sayaka played with her food, unable to eat anything after what had just happened.
"Is something wrong, Sayaka?"
Kirari asks when she sees Sayaka hadn't eaten anything.
"Everything is fine..."
"I would appreciate it if you didn't lie to me. I'm your girlfriend and I'd like to help."
Sayaka sighs as she lets her head rest on the palm of her hand.
"I'm not friends with (y/n)."
Kirari starts to laugh, making Sayaka frown.
"Forgive me but you shouldn't be upset about that. She was a burden anyways. If she can't handle you being friends with someone else then I say good riddance. Besides she was in love with you..."
"What?"
"Oh my. You really can be clueless, Sayaka. I could see the heart eyes she gave you from a mile away. I think she's just upset that we're dating now. Give her some time."
The moment Kirari saw Sayaka, she wanted her. She didn't like how close the two of you were so she began to plot how to separate the two of you. Kirari didn't think it would be easy but Sayaka had been easy to manipulate. It helped that Sayaka had become infatuated with her. All she had to do was make sure Sayaka stopped spending time with you and focus on her. A month later and her plan paid off. The two of you were no longer friends and Kirari didn't have to worry about you confessing your feelings to Sayaka.
"I didn't know. I thought I knew everything about her."
"I can't blame her. I wouldn't want to ruin my friendship of years over feelings."
Sayaka doesn't say anything else, just quietly eats dinner.

Tossing and turning, all Sayaka can think about what Kirari had said to her. She wasn't sure why her heart beat faster at the thought of you being in love with her. She was dating Kirari. She was in love with Kirari....right?
