You kept rereading the first sentence of your acceptance letter, over and over again

You kept rereading the first sentence of your acceptance letter, over and over again. You couldn't believe that you got accepted to the most prestigious university in the country. Because of your inability to believe that you would get in, you hadn't told Kirari that you had applied. Seeing that you had a chance of being able to go, you weren't sure how to tell your girlfriend that you would be moving across the country by the end of the break.

You had avoided her the entire day and now that the day was over, you couldn't avoid her any longer. You would always stay after school to accompany her for the student council meetings.

You hadn't meant to be the first time arrive. Normally, you would rush to the student council room as soon as the day ended but you walked slower today. You just wanted to delay the inevitable.

"If I didn't know any better, I would have assumed that you were avoiding me, (y/n)."

Kirari tells you when you greet her. She was alone in the room, drinking her daily tea. It was normal of her to do so but it wasn't normal for the room to be empty. Sayaka hardly left her side and Runs hardly left the room. You figured she had made them give the two of you some privacy.

"N..no. Of course not."

You shuffle your way to sit in front of her. She gives you a curious look, trying to decipher why you were acting so strange.

"Did I do something, (y/n)?"

"No! I just thought that you would like some space. You know since the tea is hot and I wouldn't want to make it hotter for you."

Kirari takes a large sip of her tea and then places the cup on the coffee table. She leans back against the couch. Crossing her legs and letting her hands rest on her knees as she looked at you.

"You're an awful liar, (y/n). What is it?"

"I..."

You weren't sure how to tell her. You might be older but she was always better at dealing with things. Pulling out your acceptance letter, you handed it to her.

"What's this? We're not married and you're already giving me papers to sign?"

Kirari laughs at her own joke as she takes the paper. She's mildly concern when you fake a laugh. Since the two of you had started dating, she had never heard you direct it towards her. She sighs and quickly reads through the letter, wanting to figure out what was going on with you.

"You're leaving?"

"I didn't think that I was going to get in. I was going to tell you but thought it would be better to just keep it to myself since I knew that I wasn't going to get in." Kirari hands the paper back to you, leaning back on the couch as she looked away from you. "I was going to tell you as soon as I read the letter but I was scared about how you'll react."

"How I'll react? Did you think that I would prohibit you from attending the school?"

Kirari's voice wavers as she talks to you. From all the years that you've known her, you've never heard her voice falter. She was always so composed.

"What? No. Of course not. I just didn't want to upset you."Kirari turns away from you, completely blocking you from seeing her face. "Kirari? Kirari, I'm sorry. I should've told you."

She doesn't answer. Her shoulders start to shake like she was trying to hold in her tears. Your eyes widen and you rush to her side, wrapping your arms around her. Kirari's not having it, simply pushing you off of her as you tried to comfort her.

"Kirari, I'm sorry. I truly am. I won't attend until the two of us can go."

"Don't be ridiculous. It's difficult to get in. You're not just going to throw away your chance because of me."

"But I've upset you."

Kirari wipes away her tears and turns to face you. The sigh of her red eyes and cheeks make you feel guilty for keeping it from her for so long.

"You can...."

The two of you are interrupted as Sayaka walks into the room with the rest of the student council members. Kirari had turned to look at the door for a second and that was enough for everyone to see that she had been crying.

"President! What did you do?! I warned you about this, (y/n)!"

Sayaka was fast. One second, she was at the door and the next, she was standing besides you with her taser pressed against your side.

You wake up to find Kirari giving you an amused smile.

"How are you feeling, (y/n)?"

You roll your eyes, knowing that she was enjoying the fact that you were in pain.

"I'm not even going to answer that. I didn't think that she would actually tase me."

"Well that's Sayaka for you. She's always been loyal to me so of course her natural reaction would be to tase you when she saw how you hurt me."

"Listen, Kirari about what happen..."

"Don't. I forgave you the moment Sayaka decided to tase you for me. You're going to that university and I'm not discussing it any further. Understand?"

"Loud and clear. Just please don't let her tase me again. That hurt like a bitch."

"Then don't do anything that will make her tase you."

You sighed, knowing it was a far-cry to expect Kirari to tell Sayaka to not do it again.
