It's another two weeks later when Mew is finally done with his work in the States.

"Finally!" Mild exclaims as soon as they are out of the airport. "I missed you, Bangkok. There is no place like your own country!" he sighs, dramatically.

Mew rolls his eyes at his dramatics "We were gone just for a month and a half, not a year!"

His secretary scowls at him, "Well, excuse me if I get more homesick than you." He then grumbles, "I can never get used to eating western food straight for more than a month! Gonna request mamma to make my favourite dishes today."

Listening to Mild, Mew realizes how he hasn't talked to his own mother in so long. The last time he had talked and seen her was...almost two months ago....on the wedding day. Usually, his mother calls him at least once a week whether it is to remind him to eat his meals on time or just to tell him some gossip she found about at parties (which he barely listens to) or just to scold him because he has skipped their family dinner. But these last two months he hasn't talked to her. He would like to blame it on his trip to the States and the time difference between the two countries but that would be a lie. The truth is that he had been just ignoring talking to anyone, whether friends or family, barely glancing at his personal phone. His Dad manages to slip a concern or two between their work conversations but he has been ignoring his mother's calls. He has been busy nursing his heart and pitying himself, neglecting his parents' concerns for him.

Fuck! A heaviness takes over his heart, slowly travelling down to his stomach twisting it from inside. Lost in his thoughts he barely registers Mild bidding him goodbye as he pulls out his personal phone and pulls up the last message his mother had sent to him, which he hasn't even opened. It was from yesterday, she was asking if he ate. Exhaling ruefully, he locks his phone and decides to go to his parent's home later for dinner today. Coincidentally, it's Saturday, their family dinner day. Perfect!

Later, as he is getting ready to leave for his parents home, for a fleeting moment he wonders why his husband still isn't home but then shrugs, "It's not my business."

Mew spots his mother as soon as he steps inside his parent's house, it seems she is just getting off a phone call and he can see the surprise on her face when her eyes lands on him. But his smile drops when he sees her eyes glistening over as he walks over to her, before she averts her gaze, "You are here" she simply says.

"Mom" he sighs, apologetic before pulling her in a hug, "I am sorry."

After a moment, his mother sniffs, "Are you okay?"

"I am okay. I am sorry for worrying you all these days" he presses a chaste kiss on her hair before backing away from the hug to look at her. A teasing smile takes over his face, "I am sure, your spy Mild has been diligently updating you though."

His mother scowls at him, "Well I wouldn't have to resort to keeping a spy if you return my calls and messages in the first place!"

He dabs the tears at the corner of her eyes with his fingers, "I have been busy" he simply says not wanting to talk about the reason for his behaviour. Besides, he knows she was aware of it anyway.

"You are always busy," she huffs, rolling her eyes.

"Well, excuse me for working and trying to earn my living, Mom" he quips, playfully.

"Well, at least you remembered you have a mother, so I won't complain much."

"Bold of you to assume I am here to meet you" he can't help but tease her, pleased that she is back in her element. He hates to see her sad.
