Tamp has never prayed for anything in his life as long as he remembers. It's not like he doesn't believe in God, it's just that he never had any reason to pray. Life had been kind to him so far, born and brought up in a humble family, joined the army as soon as he turned eighteen, and proudly served the country until he had to retire at the age of twenty-six due to an injury, after which he joined a security and protection company. After working as a bodyguard for two years he got recruited as Mew's personal bodyguard. So yes, he never had to ask God for anything. Until today....
Sitting on the bench in the hospital lobby, hands clasped together in his lap, he has done nothing but prayed in the last hour. Prayed for the safety of the two most important people in his life. Mew and Gulf, they were not just his employers, they were a family to him, people he would die for, people he would kill for. He did shoot a few today (not necessarily killing them. Unfortunately, he isn't allowed to. That's the police's job), but he failed, failed to protect his people.
They are...alive, thankfully, not majorly hurt but they shouldn't have been here in the hospital in the first place. They should have been home, safe and happy.
He doesn't exactly know how it happened because he was busy checking on his team, making sure nobody was hurt much but he does remember the deafening sound of gunshots and turning around to see Mew lying on the ground and Gulf collapsing a moment later.
He is a fucking trained professional but he had stood there shocked and frozen, leaving Boat to jump into action.
That fucking Eva...she was making a fuss that her handcuffs were too tight, so the officer who was in charge of getting her to the police van had opened her cuffs to readjust it, only to get his gun snatched by her and the next thing everyone heard was a series of gunshot as she aimed at Mew whose back was towards her. Gulf who had managed to discern her plan of action just in time, had pushed Mew away but unfortunately was too late to move himself.
Inspector Boat had immediately gunned down the woman, all five bullets straight to the heart.
Tamp had stood there, eyes wide staring at Gulf's unmoving form on the ground. David and others had rushed to the boy but he was too afraid to go to him. Because, Gulf had taken four bullets to his chest, and what are the chances of someone being alive after taking four bullets?
It was only after a shout of "He is alive", his heart began to beat again and his legs started moving. He had rushed towards Gulf to see David pushing the boy's shirt away to reveal a soft body armour (soft bulletproof vest), like the ones Eva's men were wearing.
"Stole it...from the guy I...I had knocked out" Gulf had revealed, gasping in pain.
His legs had given out, his body sagging in relief. He didn't know who he had to thank at the moment, to the goon for wearing the bulletproof armour in the first place, to God, or to Gulf for being just so...so amazing. Or just clutch the boy to his chest and cry in relief. Relief wouldn't even cut to describe his feelings at that moment.
But it wasn't the time to be relieved yet. Tamp had belatedly realized that Mew hadn't fully escaped the bullets, Boat informing him that one had hit his shoulder, though thankfully just grazing the surface of his skin. However, he was losing blood, fast.
And even though Gulf was wearing bulletproof armour, it was the fact that he was shot, four times. His body had taken the blow.
Gulf had clutched his jacket, tears spilling his eyes as he struggled to breathe, "Phi...hurts...hurts...Can't breathe..."
"I know. I know. You are going to be okay" he had attempted to assure even when he felt himself trembling.
"Mr.Supp...Suppasit...he-"
