The Roy Chowdharies were sitting on the Sofa, talking and laughing. Batuk was sitting sulking his face, and fidgeting fingers. Bondita was sitting all alone, between the talkative women of the house. She was getting bored listening to their talks. Anika was fast asleep in Anirudh's lap. He was patting her head.

" Humare hone waali Bahu ko toh bulayiye. Bachpan mein dekha tha, bohot pyaari thi. Abhi dekhen toh zara usse." Kaka said and Tara's father nodded and asked the head servant to call Tara down.

Bondita excusing herself stood up and went and sat beside Batuk. She sighed and leaned on the sofa little. "Kitna bore karti hai yeh aurtein. Uff." She looked at Batuk who seemed to be lost in his own world. " Hone waale dulhe raja, kis duniya mein khoye huye hai aap?" Bondita asked while Batuk still lost in his thought, said " Kuch nahi."

" Kuch nahi matlab? Kuch toh hua hai. Kya hua? Vivaah nahi karna? Dekho agar vivaah nahi karna, toh bol do. Abhi bhi waqt hai. Tumhari Zindagi aur Tara ki zindagi barbaad nahi hogi. Samjh.." Bondita was speaking continuously when Batuk laughed and stopped her from speaking ahead. " Meri pyaari Boudi. Mein vivaah karne ke liye taiyaar hoon. Tara ke baare mein soch raha tha. Bachpan mein usne kayi Baar kaha tha ki usse vivaah nahi karna. Agar aaj bhi Woh yahi soch rahi hogi toh?"

" Hay bhagwaan, kitna bhola devar paaya hai meine. Woh bachpan tha Batuk. Ab tum dono bade ho gaye ho. Zindagi Ek jagah nahi rukti. Chalti rehti hai. Log badalte hai, halaath badalte hai, soch vichaar bhi badalte hai." Bondita said while Batuk nodded.

" So don't worry. Agar Tara yeh vivaah nahi bhi karna chahegi, toh koi Baat nahi. Tum jaise Bandar ke liye, Koi aur bandariya dhoond lenge." Bondita said teasingly while Batuk frowned and faking a laugh showed his tounge. Bondita laughed along with him.

The servant of the house came and said "Tara betiya neeche aane se mana kar rahi hai. Keh rahi hai, ki woh Bondita Maalkin se baat karna chah rahi hai". Everyone looked at eachother confused. Bondita stood up and was about to move, when Tara's father, Alok stopped and asked the servant " Kyun? Bondita bahu se kya kaam hai?"

" Pata nahi maalik." Saying this she looked down at her feet. " Tara se Kaho,ki jo bhi baat karni hai, neeche aa ke kare. Warna.." Tara's father was about to complete when Bondita Interrupted and said " Koi baat nahi Kaka. Mujhe koi takleef nahi hai. Mein aati hoon." Saying this she went upstairs, as the servant took her to Tara's room.

After a while, Bondita came downstairs with a stern face. She came and sat beside Anirudh. " Kya hua?" Anirudh asked while Bondita nodded in No and asked him to look ahead.
That's when, noise of anklets reached everyone ears. All of them stood up as Tara made her entry. She was wearing a red saree with gold thread patterns on it. Tara lowered the veil a little and looked down as she came. Batuk stood up as she came. He was awestruck to see her. Her hairs were long, landing till her waist. Round black eyes with pink lips.

" Itni badi ho gayi hai yeh. Khub bhalo, khub shundor." Kaka said and standing up, he asked Tara to come. Tara nodded and came towards Kaka. Kaka took a gold chain and handed it Tara. Tara took it and looking at it said, " Kaka, mujhe yeh sone ki chain nahi chahiye. Kuch aur chahiye."

The family members looked at each other and then at Tara. Tara nervously looked at Bondita, to which Bondita just gave a smile and nodded. Tara took a deep breath and looking at Kaka, said " Mein apni, padhai puri karna chahti hoon. Mera aur meri Maa ka sapna tha, ki mein samaj ke liye kuch karun. Kya mein Apni padhai puri kar sakti hoon?"
