Marriage Proposal

" Kaka abhi uski umar hi kya hai?" Anirudh said while Kaka looked at Anirudh with narrowed eyes and said "24 ka hai woh. Buddha ho jayega tab karega kya vivaah? Tum dono bhaiyon ne vivaah kar liya, uski bhi Kara dete hai."

" Par Kaka Sasoor ji, koi bhi faisla lene se pehele Batuk se puch lijiye. Uski iccha bhi jaana zaroori hai." Bondita said and Anirudh agreed with her.

" Humara faisla uska aakhri faisla hota hai Bahu. Humne agar kaha ki woh Vivaah karega toh karega hi." Kaka said in a stern tone while Anirudh said " Kisi pe apna faisla thopna galat hota hai Kaka. Ek baar, bas ek baar Batuk se baat kar lijiye, puch lijiye ki usse kya chahiye."

" Haan Kaka Sasoor ji, yeh bilkul sahi keh rahe hai. Yeh uski zindagi hai, uska faisla jaana anivarya hai." Bondita said while Kaka angrily said " Aur hum Kaka hai uske. Kabhi galat faisla lenge kya bhala. Baba banke tum teeno bhaiyon ko paal poske bada kiya hai. Aur aaj tum log uska yeh silha de rahe ho?." Kaka sat down on the chair while Anirudh and Bondita took a deep breath.

" Nahi Kaka aap galat samjh rahe hai. Mein sirf itna keh raha hoon ki Batuk ki iccha bhi jaan leni chahiye. Maan lijiye usne vivaah kar liya aapke kehne pe. Woh aapki khushi ke liye Vivaah toh kar lega par kya woh khush reh payega? Jisse Vivaah karega, uss ladki ko khush rakh payega kya? Agar aap iss baat ki haami (guarantee) de sakte hai, toh apka jo faisla hoga wahi sahi." Anirudh said sitting infront of Kaka, holding his hands.

Bondita walked forward and sitting beside Kaka said " Kaka, Maa Baba ka ek bache ke jeevan mein bohot badi jagah hoti hai, jo koi bhi chah ke bhi nahi cheen sakta. Maa Baba bhale hi uss bache ko iss duniya mein laate hai, usse paal poske bada karte hai, usse har cheez laake dete hai jo usse chahiye, har buri nazar se bachate, par iska yeh Matlab nahi ki uske jeevan har ek faisla pe uska adhikaar paa lete hai. Jeevan ka faisla lene ka haq  upar waale ne khud uss bache ko diya hai, toh hum toh phir bhi insaan hai. Faisla lena ka haq jitna Maa Baba ka hai utna hi haq bache ka bhi hai."

Kaka looked at his Daughter in law and Son. He pondered over their words and sighed. He slowly nodded and said " Theek hai, hum usse baat karte hai." Both Anirudh and Bondita smiled at Kaka. Bondita raised both of her hands. Kaka held one hand and forwarded the other to Anirudh. Anirudh smiled and held Kaka's hand. He also held Bondita's hand and smiled. Anirudh put his head on Kaka's lap while Bondita put her head on Kaka's shoulder.

Batuk heard all this from outside. He was teary eyed and speechless. He couldn't digest that they loved him so selflessly. His Anirudh Dada, whom he had disrespected always was taking a stand, talking about him, his future to his Kaka. His boudi, at one time whom he didn't even consider anything, was speaking for him. He was guilty right now. He silently cried and cried. He calmed himself and making himself presentable, he went inside.

Bondita saw Batuk and got up, making Anirudh and Kaka stand as well. Bondita confused went to Batuk and said " Chote Zamindaar, tum roh rahe the?". She had asked in a whispering tone. Batuk looked for a while and nodded. " Kyun kya hua?" Bondita asked concerned while Batuk said dramatically "Tum itna pareshaan jo karti ho boudi, Uff kya bataun?". Bondita frowned and twisted his ears while he winced in pain.

" Boudi devar ki baatein ho gayi ho toh hume kuch baat karni hai tumse Batuk." Kaka said while Bondita left Batuk's ears and he nodded. " Woh..humne socha hau ki tumhara vivaah..vivaah Kara dete hai. Tumhe kya lagta hai."

" Arre Kaka mein kabse taiyaar hoon. Mere dono bhai ki patniyan toh aa gayi. Mein kyun akela jiyun bhai. Mujhe bhi meri patni chahiye." Batuk said while Kaka gave a big wide smile. Anirudh and Bondita hit their forehead and whispered" Kis gadhe ko iss duniya mein bhej diya Bhagwaan."

" Theek hai phir. Paas hi mein Sarkaar baadi hai. Unki choti beti, Tara ss tumhara vivaah Tay kar dete hai." Kaka said while Batuk scrunched his nose and made faces.

" Woh, chuhiya. Kisi aur se vivaah Kara do, par usse nahi. Bachpan ki dushmani hai humari. Kitna pareshaan kiya hai usne aapko Pata hai na." Batuk said while Bondita clapped her hands and said "Phir toh ussi se vivaah Tay hoga tumhara. Mujhe partner mil jayegi, tumhe pareshaan karne mein."

Batuk hearing her frowned and hit Bondita's head lightly to which Bondita held his hairs in fist and started to beat him. Seeing this scene Kaka and Anirudh laughed aloud. "Ahh boudi. Chodo.". Bondita pushed him and walked away showing tounge to him to which Batuk made faces.

" Taiyaar rehna Batuk." Kaka said controlling his laugh while Anirudh patted Batuks back and still laughed. Batik mimicked him and sulked.

Evening

Anirudh was getting ready. He wore his kurta and applied his musk perfume. He turned and looked for his watch but didn't find it. He looked all over his room but didn't find it. Confused he was about to leave when Bondita entered.

" Woh apka watch Anika ke paas tha. Pehen ke ghum rahi thi." Bondita said handing him over the watch.

" Oh thank god. Mein pagal ho gaya tha isse dhoond dhoond ke. Kahin mil hi nahi raha tha." Anirudh said and wore his watch.

" Aap toh pehle se hi pagal hai. Pagol Bangali." Bondita said and clapped her hands while Anirudh frowned and looked at her with narrowed eyes.

" Maz..mazak kar rahi thi." Bondita said with fake laugh. Anirudh shaked his head in disbelief and asked her "Kaisa lag raha hoon?"

" Ache lag rahe ho." Bondita said and was about to leave when she turned and looked at him. " What?"

Bondita walked near him and stood little close to him startling Anirudh. She put a small handkerchief in his Kurta's pocket in the shape of a triangle. He remembered that it was the same way Vanshika used to help him when he used to get ready. He held Bondita's hand making her look at him. "Vanshika.." Anirudh whispered while Bondita looked at him and said " Mein Bondita hoon Barrister Babu." Anirudh realised and maintained the distance."Sorry." Anirudh said and walked away leaving Bondita with her thoughts. Bondita looked at her self in the mirror and thought something and left, with fidgeting fingers.
