"I hope everyone enjoys what I've put together."
"You mean what you ordered?" Jesy cringed at all the different takeout foods. "Who'd want to have Chinese, Mexican and Italian in one sitting?" Her mom was surely overdoing this.
"Our guests may enjoy it Jesy. You never know." Janice showed Jesy her chastising eyes.
Jesy shrugged. "Well okay."
"It all looks really good to me. Thanks Mum." Joe started digging in. There was a big bowl of vegetables at the centre of the table. He hoped that Leigh-Anne would have some.
It was finally Friday and Sairah and Leigh-Anne were staying for dinner as planned. The day had actually been uneventful. Jesy had stayed within Sairah's view so had not caused much trouble and Perrie had not come over- thankfully. Jesy had still been very depressed over her breakup so she had been quiet. Leigh had tried cheering her up but Jesy was not having it. She had wished that Jesy would feel better but at the same time had been a bit glad for it because Jesy was a lot less mean when sad.
"Yeah thank you Ms. White." Sairah grinned wide at all of the options. She started by putting some noodles onto her plate. As she did so she hissed at Leigh-Anne to start with some vegetables.
Leigh-Anne did as was told. "Thank you very much. We really appreciate this." She filled half her plate with veggies and then took some noodles and pasta. There was so much. More food than she had ever seen in her life. She did not want to waste any of it.
Jesy watched how the 'guests' filled up their plates. "Uh . . . sure you can eat all of that, Chicken-Legs?" She said to Leigh-Anne.
"Jesy!" Janice cried out. "Don't call her that." It would take a while for Jesy to get over this 'mean girl' phase wouldn't it? "Apologize now."
"Fine sorry. I'm just having a hard time." Jesy sniffed and started putting vegetables in her plate.
"Again, don't hide behind your issues and use them as an excuse to be a jerk." Sairah told her.
Jesy growled a bit before stuffing some lettuce in her mouth.
Janice was glad that she told her that. "Yes. Sairah is right." She was happy that the young lady was wise enough to be able to teach Jesy lessons. I'm thinking of paying her for looking after Joe as well. Sairah may not have been a professional, but whatever she was doing with Joe was working. He wasn't only a lot calmer but somehow more selfless. He had come to her room to sleep with her last night because he had feared that she was lonely. That was really sweet to her.
Jesy was not liking this accountability thing. "Fine whatever." She mumbled.
Leigh-Anne devoured all of her vegetables and started eating the pile of noodles. She had never eaten such a thing.
Sairah was eating quickly but she had to stop herself in case she ended up throwing everything up later. "Aye Leigh. Slow down." She whispered.
Leigh-Anne's mouth was full. "Oh okay." She said in a muffled voice.
Joe giggled at them. "This is your first time having Chinese?"
"Oh yeah. We don't usually eat this type of stuff." Sairah told him.
"I can imagine." Janice remarked.
Jesy was staring at Leigh-Anne and the way that she ate with zest. "Can your body even hold all of that?"
Leigh-Anne was beginning to feel full but her plate was barely empty. She picked up a napkin and wiped her mouth. "It should be able to. Aren't these normal portions?"
