Perrie was happy to be wherever Leigh-Anne was.
She and Jade were sitting on the girl's bed after school the next day.
" . . . so he's excited too. That means that both of me hard to impress parents are eager to meet you Leigh-Anne. They usually don't care about anything I'm into. You must truly have something special about you if they're both intrigued." Perrie had had a conversation on the phone with her father last night and she had brought up the dinner they were supposed to have with Leigh-Anne at the end of the month.
Leigh-Anne was glad that Perrie seemed so excited about this. "Maybe I do. I'm just happy that you'll be seeing your parents again after what? Three months?"
"Ah?" Perrie did not understand what she was saying.
"Aaaand she doesn't even care that she'll be reuniting with the people who brought her into this world." Jade said.
Perrie caught on. "Oh yeah, yeah I'm excited to see those yorks. I miss them obviously." She was staring at the bright Leigh-Anne.
Leigh-Anne clapped in a small way. "What's like your . . . favourite thing about them? They're not around much but things must be fun when they are."
Perrie was looking from left to right. "I mean . . . when they're around the most they do is call me out for doing bullshit so . . . oh I liked when we went to Hawaii that time. And all the other trips we took together."
"So you like their bank accounts? That they can take you on family vacations every now and then?" Jade said.
"Um well . . . yeah? Ugh what do you want me to say? Jade can you even think of one thing you like about your mam?" Perrie said crossly.
Jade raised an eyebrow before holding out one finger. "She's funny, she's witty, she's charming, laid back, interesting, easy to talk to, kind, thinks positively no matter her circumstance, she loves me, she . . ." She went on and on.
Leigh listened and imagined the amazing woman she had met a couple of days ago.
Perrie felt like Jade was putting her to shame. "Okay! Okay! No one asked-"
"You just did." Jade stopped.
"No, keep going. This list is cute and very accurate." Leigh-Anne was petting Nemo in her lap.
Jade was blushing. "You really liked my mam didn't you?"
"Yeah. She was cool. I'd go back to your house just to spend time with her." Leigh-Anne said.
"Mmm and now I'm beginning to wonder if you like me mam more than you like me." Jade pretended to be hurt by pouting.
"Nooo I don't I swear." Leigh stretched to squeeze Jade's knee. "I love you both equally." She kissed at Jade.
Jade narrowed her eyes. "You knew me first though."
"Jade don't be like that come on." Leigh-Anne was laughing.
Perrie watched in 'third wheel' until she started laughing too.
Jade and Leigh-Anne looked at her.
Perfect. "So are you excited about meeting Marcy's parents tomorrow? Do they know about your recent diagnosis? Do they suck?" Perrie wanted to make sure that Jade and Leigh-Anne forgot that they were ever having a conversation a while ago.
Jade would slap her but she did not want to scare Leigh-Anne. Jealousy at its finest.
Leigh-Anne remembered her doctor's appointment and tests of earlier. Marcy had taken time off work to accompany her to the hospital. "NES isn't as bad as being epileptic though. They told me that as long as I stay away from severely stressful events that I should be fine." She shrugged. "And Marcy shares everything about me and Sairah with her folks so they know. When they come 'round I'm sure we won't even talk about any of that. Would you discuss your health with your grandparents?"
