Jade hopped onto the hood of her car and waited for Leigh to follow. They were in the parking lot.
Leigh-Anne climbed on gingerly and then scooted a bit closer to Jade.
"Is that a new outfit?" Jade asked her.
"Yeah my uh . . . my sister got it. She got another gig so she was able to get us fresh clothes for this. Not that I'm here to participate. Only here 'cause she's working and I don't wanna be alone." Leigh-Anne put on a tight smile.
"I know, I know." Jade looked around. She paged through her manga absently. "When you go with her to Jesy's house is it . . . weird?"
Leigh nodded. "Most of the time, yeah. Jesy doesn't like me so . . ." She shrugged.
"Hmm what if someone could stay with you at your house while she works?"
"We'd have to pay them and we don't really-"
"I could be your at home buddy." Jade smiled.
Leigh thought about it. "Wow. That would be nice. But Jesy may wonder where I am and what if she finds out and gets mad?"
"Won't matter if you keep far from her most of the time. You could even come with me on me escapades. I do a lot of stuff. Not the dangerous escapades of course but you know." Jade winked.
Leigh suddenly felt a lot brighter. What if she really didn't have to go to Jesy's anymore? She smiled. "I'd like that."
"Whoa it's like your mood just lit up. What does Jesy do to you over there?" Jade laughed a bit.
Leigh-Anne laughed too. "Mmm . . . Sometimes Perrie's there and I-I don't know. Ever since she peeped on me in the changing room at the mall I just would rather stay away from her." She licked her lips. "And once I fell asleep at Jesy's and she was over me and I didn't like that so . . ."
"Oh shit." Jade covered her mouth. "You've got to be careful with that sort of thing. Over you? How?"
"She said she was going to the other side of Jesy's bed to meet Jesy or something but it made me feel weird so I have a feeling that she was up to something. And Jesy would let her do what she wants since she doesn't like me." Leigh rubbed her hands onto her jeans. "Perrie's been nicer but I don't want to fall for it."
"Good girl. Never trust a nice creep." Jade pointed while saying this.
Leigh was happy for her advice. "So . . . what do you do on a regular day? You seem so independent and mature." She faced Jade a bit, bringing her leg up on the hood.
Jade blew a raspberry. "Let's see, wake up, check on me mam, give her her meds, make breakfast we eat together while watching the tele . . . these days things have been pretty slow so I haven't been getting many calls about my . . ." She eyed Leigh. "Business. But I also run errands once in a while."
Leigh-Anne knew what the business was. "What's your mum like?"
"She's a lot like me. Just full of more wit." Jade sounded cheeky.
Leigh-Anne laughed.
"Ooo Jesy! Look what I found!" Someone approached them then. It was a guy with a beer in hand. He wore swim trunks and sunglasses.
Jade rolled her eyes. "Please walk away."
"Why should I? I've been waiting to see what the legendary spicy Jade Thirlwall looks like next to the new girl in town." The guy held up frames with his fingers. "Mmm you two match. Exotic masterpiece." He got his cell phone out of his pocket and snapped a picture.
"Ugh. What are you? The paps? Why are you doing this? Delete that." Jade sounded very mad. This was basically a typical event with her school mates. They just loved taking pictures and harassing her.
