So on Monday, Sairah was getting ready to do all of her work alone.
She got dressed in her room and then went to Leigh's to wake the girl.
Leigh-Anne was wearing the sweater she had gotten from Jade. She often wore it to sleep.
Sairah rubbed her hand against the doorway. "Come on kiddo. Time to get up." That party on Saturday had seemed to really mess Leigh up. The kid had not gotten out of bed on Sunday and Sairah had been worried. She would have asked Leigh more questions about what Jesy had done to really push her off the edge but Sairah had been exhausted herself. Saturday had been her first time partying with rich folk and she had to say that it sucked. Everyone had been annoying and she actually had not been partying so maybe it did not count.
Leigh moved slowly and then sat up. She looked at Sairah over her shoulder.
"Time for breakfast. Let's go." Sairah told her. "Don't worry, as planned, you don't have to come with me to Jesy's house today okay? You don't even have to help with the dog walking. After breakfast you can stay in and chill . . . wait till Jade comes over to pick you up."
Leigh-Anne nodded then climbed out of bed. She was heading to the bathroom.
The sisters sat to eat at their small table.
Leigh was happy for the eggs and toast but she did not really feel like eating.
Sairah watched her. "Gonna eat that?"
"Yeah just give me a second." Leigh-Anne sipped from her juice box first.
Sairah had a cold sweat running down her back. Was Leigh getting worse on her? "Hey uh . . . I know you said that you don't want to be around Jesy for the sole reason of her being an ass- which we all know is true- but you never really explicitly said how she was being an ass more so than usual. Did something happen at that party or . . ." She really wanted to know. Leigh seemed pretty down. More down than she had been before.
Leigh-Anne pulled her sleeves down to her hands to make sweater paws. "She just said and did some things that night that I didn't like." She mumbled.
Sairah had had to listen closely to hear what she said. "Could you like . . . say exactly what she did? I feel like as your guardian that I should know."
Leigh-Anne was quiet.
"What? Did she punch you in the face? Nah you woulda had a bruise. Uhh oh shit. Did she pull your trousers down?"
Leigh played with her food.
"She did!" Sairah stood.
"No, no she didn't . . ." Leigh waved her arms to assure her. "Sit down Sairah."
Sairah looked left to right before sitting. "So what did she do?"
Leigh-Anne seemed uncertain about sharing.
"Come on. I'm not gonna bite you."
"I know you won't. You're not a dog." Leigh said looking away.
Sairah breathed out. "What is it? Just say it."
Leigh-Anne licked her lips with eyes on her eggs. "Some girls at the party told her that I said I liked her- as you know- and she came to rub it in my face or something and she started getting rude so I got mad and we had an argument. During the argument she was yelling and she shoved Jade for trying to help me and a bit later she shoved me and then somehow she thought it would be okay to touch one of my breasts. All of it happened in front of a lot of people and it was awkward and weird and embarrassing." She sighed.
