Jupiter's Great Red Spot is a massive, persistent storm system that has raged for centuries, possibly more than 350 years. This swirling, high-pressure anticyclonic storm is so enormous that it could easily swallow Earth whole—it measures over 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers) in width, though it's been gradually shrinking over the last few decades. Despite this reduction in size, the storm remains one of the most iconic and enduring features in our solar system, easily visible through telescopes and a frequent subject of astronomical study.
