After the tears, mental breakdowns, headaches, I managed to conquer the med school.

After the long drive, gabi na nang makarating ako sa Nueva. I drove to the patio and stopped when I reached the main entrance of the mansion.
The Spanish-themed mansion was decorated with browns and yellow lights that highlighted the facade of the mansion. Expensive vases and paintings are all in place. Some of them are antique.
I searched the mansion to look for my family. It's weird to witness the unusual silence covering the house. Kahit noon, ay hindi ganito 'to. Palaging may magagawi na katulong sa bahay. Kahit kanina nga, hindi ako sinalubong ng isa sa mga katulong.

"Congratulations, Addie!" isang malakas na sigaw at pagputok ng confetti ang nakapagpagulat sakin. I can see the confetti falling all over me. Lumingon ako at nakita ko sila Lolo, Lola at Tito William. Tita Cecille, Cassidy and Bentley are all watching me from FaceTime.
A smile dawned on my lips as I went down on a few steps to approach them.
Agad akong lumapit kina Lolo at Lola saka nila ako binigyan ng yakap at halik sa pisngi.
"Congratulations, apo," si Lola sabay hagod sa likod ko. "Tuwang-tuwa si Diana kung nandito man siya. Ang anak niya ay isa ring topnotcher! Ganap na doktor ka na, hija!"
I didn't know that my mother is also a topnotcher. I looked at my Tito and Lolo to see their answer and I instantly got it when they nodded.
"Your Mom topped the Physicians Licensure Examination," paliwanag pa ni Tito William. Napatango ako sa sinabi ni Tito. Hawak niya ang laptop saka ako lumingon para makita sila Tita Cecille, Cassidy at Bentley.
"Hi po, Tita, cous," I smiled at them.
"Congratulations, Addie!" nakangiting bati ni Tita.
"Congrats, cous!" sabay na bati ng mga pinsan ko.
"Salamat."
"Oh, mamaya na 'yan. Masamang pinaghihintay ang pagkain," si Lola.
Years have been passed at ang daming nagbago sa mga buhay namin. I have been barely seeing the boys dahil busy rin sila. From internship to residency. Talagang sobrang bilis lang. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na ang tulad ko na puro alak at tropa, magtatapos.
"Kapagod 'no? Pero sige, laban," si Malia. She's currently on her third year residency of Obstetrics and Gynecology. "Buti pa 'to patapos na!" sabay turo kay Iya. Iya took Pediatrics as her specialty. Malapit na rin siyang matapos sa residency niya since this is her third year.
"We're both halfway there, Malia. Ang importante, doctor na tayo," sabi ko. Parehas kaming third year sa residency.
"Kung may yayaman agad sa atin, si Addie 'yon. Putcha kaya pala 'yon yung pinili niyang specialty, laki ng sahod!"
"Hiyang-hiya naman ako sa'yo, sismars! And besides, you hated neuroanatomy back in med school," sabi ko. "Anyway, I'm still going to the party. May welcoming party kasi na in-organize para sa mga bagong doctor sa department namin. Bye!"
