It's been two days since I called it off with Sage. Hindi na dapat matuloy 'yon dahil he's dating Irina now. I think I did my job well in matchmaking them. I'm really distancing myself to them although they're my friends. But given what I had with Sage, I really feel that I should.
Kakatapos lang ng rounds ko at nakatayo ako ngayon sa nurses station para magsulat ng mga importanteng papeles ng mga pasyente. After finishing the papers, I kept them in a binder.
Ngayong araw din ang defense kaya iilang doctor din ang nandoon. I went to the hospital's auditorium then watch the defense. I promised that I'll be there to watch the juniors in their defense.
I went down to look for a seat.
"Addie!" I heard Irina called. She's sitting next to Sage, who's also looking at me. She even motioned her hand for me to come and pointed to the seat next to Sage.
I just mouthed her thanks then pointed at the vacant seat on their opposite and took a sit there. Nanatili lang si Sage na nakatingin sa akin pero umiwas na lang din ako. I sat next to an otolaryngocologist.
I just listened silently to the other residents. Agad rin natawag ang neurosurgery residents for their defense. I was spotted by one of the residents and I gave them a thumbs up, urging them.
I was impressed how they delivered the important points. I was surprised after the jury asked 3 questions, it was done already.
My phone vibrated and ER texted me since there's an emergency. Tumayo na ako para puntahan ito agad. I wore my stethoscope around my neck and went to the patient right away.
"Vitals?" I asked and the paramedic quickly stated. I was quick to check the patient right away then ordered a CT scan afterwards.
After the CT scans was released, I went in to check so I'll know the diagnosis.
"Prepare the OR. I need someone to assist me," utos ko.
"It's done. You should prepare yourself," I heard a familiar voice that stopped me. Inikot ko ang swivel chair saka ko nakita si Sage. Tumango na lang ako.
"Thanks," I whispered as I walked pass him.
Pagtapos ng ilang oras ay natapos din ang operasyon. As usual, I informed the guardian about the condition then left. Kinuha ko pa yung coat ko sa locker at naiwang suot ang itim na scrub suit.
"You want to have some lunch?" I heard Sage talked on my side.
"Hindi mo ba hihintayin si Irina?" I asked.
"She can have lunch by her own," sagot nito. "Come on, I thought we're friends now?"
Yeah, we are friends, but I'm maintaining distance. But it doesn't feel like we're distancing because the next few days, I felt being pulled by the magnetic force back to him since Irina has been pulling me with her every time in the hospital. At isa pa 'tong pag-aaya niya na mag hike kami dito sa Rizal. Sabado ngayon at birthday ni Iya. I'm set to drive to Bataan in the afternoon after the hiking.
"It's been a while since we hiked, 'no?" Irina said to Sage. "Hindi ko 'to nagawa sa U.S." tumingin siya sa'kin. "Have you hiked, Addie?"
"Nah," I answered.
"You're so sexy ha?" she complimented. I'm wearing black Nike Pro shorts, sports bra and just a pair of shoes. Siya naman ay naka leggings, sports camisole at windbreaker. Alam kong malamig ngayong umaga at lakas pa ng loob ko na hindi magsuot ng cardigan.
"Anong diet plan mo?" she asked.
"So do you," I complimented back and smiled softly. "And no, I don't have any diet plan."
